Krotoschin brings together urban history, museum collections, and trails exploring a variety of natural features. This is especially evident in a wooden arcaded house, the collections of the Regional Museum, and the different lengths of hiking and cycling routes. When planning your trip, it is worth distinguishing local attractions from destinations in the wider travel area.

Comparing Hiking and Cycling Routes

The red “Krotoszyn–Baszków” hiking trail connects Krotoszyn and Baszków over 15.3 kilometres. The cycling routes can be distinguished by their colour and length: the black “Wokół Krotoszyna” cycling route is 44.1 kilometres long, while the green “Krotoszyńskie Dąbrowy” cycling route is 39.3 kilometres long. If choosing between the two cycling routes, you can first compare the shorter green route with the longer black one. The hiking route has different endpoints and is designated as a hiking trail.

Houses, the Town Hall and the Regional Museum

Krotoszanka is the oldest surviving house in Krotoszyn. This wooden arcaded house dates from the second half of the 18th century. Krotoszyn Town Hall was built around 1689 to replace an earlier wooden building. The two buildings represent different chapters in the town’s history: Krotoszanka is notable as a surviving residential house, while the Town Hall’s historical significance lies in its construction and the earlier wooden building it replaced.

The Hieronim Ławniczak Regional Museum displays more than 1,300 objects in its permanent exhibition, covering archaeology, local folk culture and regional art. The museum also holds temporary exhibitions several times a year on historical, artistic, natural-history and regional subjects. If a particular temporary exhibition is a deciding factor for your trip, check the current programme in advance.

Parkland and Protected Nature

The “Wojska Polskiego” landscaped park dates from the first half of the 19th century and has two ponds with fountains. The “Miejski Bór” floristic nature reserve offers a different natural feature: it lies in the municipality of Krotoszyn, directly beside the town of Krotoszyn, and is home to two protected plant species, the European honeysuckle and ivy. Thus, Krotoszyn has both a historic park and a nature reserve with named plant species, though they offer different kinds of nature experience.

Nature and Cuisine in the Wider Travel Area

In the wider travel area, the “Ekologiczna ścieżka przyrodnicza” nature trail is 4.3 kilometres long and has six educational stations. It passes through the “Mszar Bogdaniec” peat bog nature reserve, which protects peat bogs and part of a forest with swamp and bog vegetation. The trail also passes through the “Baszków” floristic nature reserve, where a population of royal fern is protected. The “Dąbrowy Krotoszyńskie Baszków–Rochy” protected landscape area is also protected under Natura 2000 and lies partly within Krotoszyn County.

The wider travel area also has its own culinary highlight: Krotoszyn County is the main organiser of the annual “Powiat od kuchni” festival, where local specialities are served. The nature trail, protected areas and cuisine thus complement the attractions in Krotoszyn with other regional themes.

Indoor and Outdoor Swimming Pools

The indoor swimming pool at the “WODNIK” Sports and Recreation Centre in Krotoszyn has two pools and an indoor slide more than 50 metres long. The outdoor swimming pool complex has a 50 × 25-metre swimming pool, a children’s pool and a paddling pool for toddlers. The two facilities therefore differ considerably: the indoor pool has a long slide and two pools, while the outdoor complex additionally offers a dedicated paddling pool for toddlers.
