Granowo combines a manor house in a park, religious heritage and cycling routes to Granówko and Kubaczyn. When planning your visit, you can distinguish between the history of the buildings and the area, and cycling trips. The town also has a library, cultural activities and a memorial park.

Manor House and Culture in Granowo

The Pałac w Granowie manor house dates from the 19th century and is set in a 4.57-hectare park on Stawowa Street. Its history can be traced through two families and two centuries: the Działyński family lived in the manor house in the 19th century, and the Czartoryski family in the 20th century.

The listed palace complex also includes the Oficyna, a former manor house dating from the 18th century. Today, the manor house is home to the Biblioteka Publiczna Gminy Granowo and the Gminny Ośrodek Kultury. The historic building therefore also brings together library and cultural activities. The Oficyna adds another period to the history of the complex: it dates from the 18th century, while the manor house and the families who lived there continue the story into the 19th and 20th centuries.

The Biblioteka Publiczna Gminy Granowo also serves as a cultural centre. The library’s activities include gatherings of the Pracownia Gobelinu Artystycznego and the “Granowianie” vocal ensemble, as well as tapestry exhibitions and meetings with artists and authors. If you are interested in a particular event, check the specific dates in advance, as individual programme items may change.

Religious Heritage and Remembrance

The Parish Church of St Martin is considered one of the most valuable heritage sites in Granowo Municipality. Its complex includes a wooden bell tower dating from the late 19th century. The church is also on the “Powiatowym Szlaku Turystycznym im. Michała Drzymały, Kościoły Drewniane Powiatu Grodziskiego”.

The grave of Michał Hoffmann, a corporal in the 3rd Battalion of the western group of the Greater Poland insurgents, is located by the church. He fell on the western front on 11 February 1919. These two details tell stories from different periods: the bell tower points to the late 19th century, while Hoffmann’s grave commemorates the uprising and the western front on 11 February 1919.

Góra Zwycięstwa is a memorial park in the centre of Granowo, at the intersection of Poznańska and Szkolna streets. Alongside its religious heritage, the town has this distinct place of remembrance.

Cycling Routes

A cycle path connects Granowo with Granówko. It was built in 2012 as part of the “Renewal and Development of Rural Areas” measure under PROW for 2007–2013. Another cycle route runs between Kubaczyn and Granowo. The pavement along Kościańska Street in Granowo extends the newly built cycle path.

A route allows residents of Drużyn to reach Granowo on foot or by bicycle. A covered rest area for tourists was built beside the railway viaduct in Granowo. When comparing the cycling connections, the named destinations are helpful: cycle paths connect Granówko and Kubaczyn with Granowo; residents of Drużyn can also travel to Granowo on foot or by bicycle.
