Each has its own starting point and destination. So if a farm is part of your travel plans, keep its name together with the corresponding starting point; the travel time alone does not distinguish between the two routes.

Two routes in Yanahuaya

From the Plaza de Armas in Yanahuaya, a three-kilometer paved route leads to Finca Cafetalera Piñera Villa Tunqui. A MINCETUR inventory entry dated August 15, 2023, gives a travel time of ten minutes by taxi. These details apply to the route to this specific farm and are not a general travel time for Tambopata. The entry is dated August 15, 2023; check the route before making a specific trip, based on your starting point and destination.

The second route starts in the Comunidad de Purumpata and covers four kilometers of unpaved road to Finca Cafetalera Alto Valle De La Flora. An off-road vehicle and a travel time of ten minutes are specified for this section. The starting point, destination, road surface, and vehicle therefore differ from those for the route to Piñera Villa Tunqui. As road conditions can change, check the condition of this section before setting out.

Both travel times are ten minutes, but the routes are not the same: three kilometers on a paved road by taxi compared with four kilometers on an unpaved road in an off-road vehicle. For your planning, it is therefore more important to match the correct starting point with the farm’s name than simply to compare the travel times.

Coffee farms and thematic orientation

Another farm in Yanahuaya is Finca Cafetalera Piñera Jardín de la Selva in Sandia Province. A regional tourism description published in 2022 mentioned it in connection with coffee tourism and organic coffee production. For travelers interested in coffee, this offers a specific point of reference. Pay attention to the full name: Piñera Jardín de la Selva is a different destination from Piñera Villa Tunqui; Alto Valle De La Flora is a separate farm as well. Similar parts of the names are no substitute for identifying the destination precisely. All three named farms are in Yanahuaya; however, the two routes described start at the Plaza de Armas and the Comunidad de Purumpata, respectively.

Plan accommodation and travel separately

The routes start at the Plaza de Armas in Yanahuaya and the Comunidad de Purumpata, respectively; they do not start from the town of Tambopata. If one of the coffee farms is a destination for you, match its full name to the corresponding starting point. This lets you make your accommodation decision separately from planning the specific journey, without assuming that the same travel time means the road conditions are the same.
