In Csepreg, vineyards, bodies of water and historic sites come together. When planning your trip, the town offers a variety of options: a hike with information about grape varieties, wine tastings and cellar visits, or exploring the town’s history. Several springs and a fishing lake are also distinctive features of the landscape.

Vineyards, Water and a Hiking Trail

At the foot of the Csepreg vineyard is a 26-hectare fishing lake fed by the Boldogasszony Stream. The Új Bene kút spring is located on Bene-hegy in the vineyard; another spring, called Sajbók, lies in the Hanga dűlő. The lake and springs add distinctive features alongside viticulture and provide several clearly identified points of reference when describing the landscape.

The Csepreg section of the Alpannonia-Plus hiking trail follows the Borongoló tanösvény. Information boards introduce individual grape varieties and the wines made from them. This gives the trail a specific theme as well as a hiking route: you can learn more about vines and wine along the way, rather than seeing viticulture only as a backdrop. There are also information boards about the town and the hiking trail in Alpannonia Park.

Wine Tastings and Recurring Events

Cellar visits and wine tastings are available at the Csepreg vineyard. At Néber-Tóth Pince, visitors can taste wines from Csepreg and gain insight into life and work at the wine cellar. If you would like a wine tasting to be a highlight of your stay, it is best to check the current arrangements with the winery in advance.

The vineyard also hosts several annual events. These include Orbán-napi gyepűtiprás, Nyitott Pincék napja, Négy Évszak Négy Túra, Hegyközségi borverseny and Szüreti felvonulás. The list covers a variety of occasions related to vineyards, cellars, hiking and the harvest. If you would like to plan your trip around a particular event, check the date for your intended travel year.

Town History and Notable Sites

The permanent exhibition “Csepreg története” covers several periods, from prehistoric finds and Roman-era evidence to the time of the Nádasdy family, the 1848–49 War of Independence and the Second World War. It is housed in six rooms of the 19th-century courthouse. Check current visitor access before planning a visit.

A railway monument commemorates the line that served Csepreg and the surrounding area from 1913 to 1974. On the shore of Bene-hegyi tó stands the statue “Jézus Máriával,” erected in 1882. There is also a statue of Saint Urban on the vineyard, erected by winegrowers. These sites offer different historical and cultural points of interest, without requiring a single theme to define your entire stay.

Religious sites and routes can also be a focus in their own right: visitors can reach the Boldogasszony-kápolna by following the Stations of the Cross, and a cycle path in Csepreg leads to the Szent Miklós-templom. Alongside the hiking trail and vineyard, these offer further specific options to consider when choosing activities. When planning your stay in Csepreg, you can decide how much to focus on the landscape, viticulture or the town’s history.
