Borgáta offers concrete ways to enjoy a stay centered on thermal bathing, the landscape and local history. The Borgáta Thermal Bath is open seasonally; volcanic Kis-Somlyó shapes the landscape, while two reminders of King Béla IV bring local history to life. If you choose a destination based on bathing, cycling or culture, you can consider these different highlights separately.

Thermal Bath and Camping

The pool at the Borgáta Thermal Bath is suitable for both swimming and bathing. If a visit to the bath is a deciding factor in your trip, plan around its season and check the latest operating information in advance. This will help you distinguish the bath’s seasonal nature from the other aspects of your stay.

There is a campsite at the Borgáta Thermal Bath with 50 pitches and modern sanitary facilities. Before your trip, check current availability and the condition of the facilities, as operational details like these can change.

Kis-Somlyó and the Memory of Béla IV

Kis-Somlyó is a volcanic hill near Borgáta, and the town lies at its foot. A themed route in Vas County also leads to Kis-Somlyó, as well as Ság-hegy and Belső-hegy. The hill can thus be considered both as part of the local landscape and in the context of a regional volcanic tour.

The “Királykő” sign marks the rock where, according to tradition, King Béla IV and his army rested and watered their horses during the Mongol invasion. In the town center, a bronze statue by sculptor Sándor Kiss commemorates Béla IV, the “second founder of the country.” The sign and the statue highlight different aspects: tradition links the king to a particular rock, while the monument keeps his memory alive in the town center.

Cycling Route and Other Thermal Destinations

Borgáta is one of the five thermal bath complexes included in the Termál-Kerékpáros-Túraút in Vas County. In the wider destination of Eisenburg, this route combines cycling with visits to architectural and natural attractions and other thermal baths. This gives you two themes to consider when planning your trip: Borgáta’s seasonally open bath and a regional cycling route that links thermal baths with natural and cultural attractions.

The wider destination of Eisenburg also includes Bük and Sárvár as thermal destinations. Two internationally recognized thermal baths are located there, 25 kilometers apart. Bükfürdő is an independent medical and tourism center and one of Hungary’s spa towns. The Sárvári Gyógy- és Wellnessfürdő offers a wide range of medical, health-promoting and recreational services. For a broader search for thermal destinations, Eisenburg offers further highlights that differ from Borgáta’s seasonal bath. Bükfürdő lies where Alpokalja and Kisalföld meet, two kilometers from the small town of Bük.
