Nature, commemorative culture, aviation and sport offer different ways to shape a stay in Dunavarsány. The landscape highlights include a floating fen on the Kis-Duna and Domariba-sziget; history and remembrance are represented by Trianon Emlékpark and several statues. KOMO–SKY 51-es BÁZIS adds a collection on military aviation, while Dunavarsányi Olimpiai Központ represents the sporting side of the town. You can plan your stay around a particular interest rather than trying to fit every theme into a single itinerary.

Nature on the Kis-Duna

The Kis-Duna near Dunavarsány is home to a floating fen of about 10 hectares. Domariba-sziget is also one of the town’s notable natural attractions. Both names offer specific ways to explore the landscape: a fen and an island. If nature is your main interest, you can make these two features your focus and add the other themes according to your interests.

Memorial sites and history

Trianon Emlékpark commemorates the Treaty of Trianon, signed on 4 June 1920. The park was inaugurated on 4 June 2008. These dates distinguish the park’s historical reference from its own establishment: 1920 refers to the treaty, and 2008 to the inauguration of the memorial site.

Another historical reference is the Remény statue. It was unveiled on 1 May 2004 in Nagyvarsány, a locality within Dunavarsány, to mark Hungary’s accession to the European Union, and was created by Monori Sebestyén. A life-size statue of Pope John XXIII also stands in front of the Catholic church in Dunavarsány. The places and works offer different perspectives: a memorial park dedicated to a historical treaty, a statue commemorating a specific occasion and a depiction of a religious figure. The cultural highlights therefore extend beyond a single memorial site.

Aviation and technological history

KOMO–SKY 51-es BÁZIS is located in Dunavarsány, next to Route 51. Its collection includes notable types of Hungarian military aircraft, including the MiG-15 and the MiG-23, which remained in service until the turn of the millennium. The collection also includes airfield ground equipment and radar equipment. The theme is therefore not limited to aircraft: ground technology and radar are part of the collection too.

Guided tours for groups are available by prior arrangement. A knowledgeable guide explains the history of the equipment. Visitors can also board the aircraft that are open for this purpose; every admission ticket includes the option to board designated aircraft. If you are planning a group visit, arrange it in advance. Also confirm the current ticket conditions if you plan to board an aircraft. The tour connects the exhibits with an expert account of their history.

Sport and access to the water

Dunavarsányi Olimpiai Központ is a five-hectare competitive and recreational sports centre with direct water access to the Ráckevei Duna-ág. This offers a distinct sporting focus alongside nature, history and aviation. The centre’s specific features are its size, competitive and recreational sports facilities, and water access; these set it apart from the memorial sites and aviation collection.

Planning your stay

When looking for hotels in Dunavarsány, you can start by choosing the focus that interests you. If KOMO–SKY 51-es BÁZIS is part of your plans, note that group tours require advance arrangements, and check the current ticket conditions before your visit. This lets you prepare the activity that requires advance arrangements first, then weigh up your other interests. Nature, culture, aviation and sport do not have to form a single, obligatory itinerary.
