Tröstau is a state-recognised health resort in the Fichtelgebirge Nature Park. Local highlights range from the listed hammer manor in Leupoldsdorf to a geological and historical educational trail, as well as cycling, golf and swimming facilities. When planning your stay, it is worth distinguishing between these options by their character: they offer insights into the history of buildings and their use, a route along an educational trail, or sporting and recreational activities.

Hammer Manor and Waterwheel in Leupoldsdorf

The hammer manor, together with its associated ponds, is located in the district of Leupoldsdorf and is a listed site. The gatehouse houses a tourist information centre and an exhibition about the hammer manor and the hammer mill owners. There is also an interactive feature: visitors can set the waterwheel in motion by opening a small weir. The exhibition and waterwheel offer different points of interest: the manor and the hammer mill owners are the focus of one, while visitors can set the wheel in motion themselves at the other. For travellers interested in cultural history and technical processes, the ensemble offers more than just a view of the building.

Educational Trail and Bridge Cycle Route

The Leupoldsdorf–Vordorf geological and historical educational trail is nine kilometres long and explains geological phenomena as well as traces of former mining activity. You can walk it in either direction or visit individual stops. This lets you vary the scope of your exploration: you can choose the entire route or focus on individual stops. If you would like to consider the landscape and its former use together, both topics can be explored along the same trail.

The Bavaria–Bohemia Bridge Cycle Route offers a different perspective. It passes through Silberhaus on its way to the health resort of Tröstau. The section between Tröstau and Selb runs along former railway lines without any major gradients and crosses more than a dozen listed bridges; it is family-friendly. The educational trail and cycle route differ in their focus and use: the trail covers geology and former mining activity and allows visitors to visit individual stops, while the cycle route focuses on the section between Tröstau and Selb and the bridges along the former railway lines.

Golf Course at the Foot of the Kösseine

The golf course is located in Fahrenbach, a district of Tröstau, at the foot of the 993-metre-high Kösseine. The 18-hole course has a playing length of 5,870 metres and a par of 71. The course includes a practice green and a spacious driving range; the programme of courses ranges from beginners to advanced golfers. Various bodies of water alternate with cultural biotopes across the course. Together, they provide a refuge for plants and animals that have become rare. The golfing facilities and habitats thus sit side by side: the range of courses caters to different experience levels, while the bodies of water and cultural biotopes define the natural character of the course.

Forest Swimming Pool and Hiking Information

The forest swimming pool is on the western edge of Tröstau and offers opportunities for swimming, sunbathing and playing. The municipal tourist office provides hiking maps and other useful information for walks. Swimming and hiking information complement the cultural, cycling and golfing options with further activities for your stay. If you are planning hikes, the maps and information from the tourist office can help you find your way.
