In Kleinwinklarn, a clear connection to local cultural history meets a variety of walking trails. The Church of the Sacred Heart has distinctive architectural and decorative features; the Oberpfälzer Seenweg leads directly to Kleinwinklarn and continues towards Lake Eixendorf. There is also a three-day tour that passes by the village. When planning your trip, it is worth distinguishing between these routes: they differ both in where they lead and in the stated time frame.
Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus
The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Kleinwinklarn was built in 1905. Its apse contains a life-size statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, created in 1946 by Sudeten German sculptor Karl Mauermann. To the left of the chancel is an image of Saint Joseph, and to the right, a Madonna. Instead of a tower, the church has a roof turret. Its architecture thus draws attention to the roof design, as well as to the named images and their positions within the church.
Walking trails and tours
The Oberpfälzer Seenweg follows the Atzenbach stream directly to Kleinwinklarn, where there are places to stop for refreshments. From there, it continues through the forest towards Stetten and Gütenland, then along the southern shore of Lake Eixendorf to the Wutzschleife. The Neunburg Goldsteig Loop is a three-day tour that passes Kleinwinklarn on its way towards Gütenland. This gives you a practical distinction to consider when planning: the Goldsteig Loop is specified as a three-day tour, while the Seenweg is defined by its route along the stream, through the forest and onward to the Wutzschleife.
Fishing waters and village community centre
The two fishing waters can also be distinguished by their routes. The Rötzerbach section runs upstream from the village mill to the Kleinwinklarn junction, where the Stettnerbach begins. The Stettnerbach fishing water runs from this junction to the Stettner Mill. The named endpoints therefore mark a sequence from the Rötzerbach section to the Stettnerbach section.
The Kleinwinklarn village community centre is a venue for events. The supporting association rents out the premises or makes them available to anyone interested in holding an event. The first two-day Kleinwinklarner Fischkirwa was announced there for 3 and 4 October 2026. The menu for the event was to include baked carp and schnitzel with potato salad or fries. This food offering is specific to that dated event.
Neunburg vorm Wald
In Neunburg vorm Wald, the Schwarzachtal Local History Museum explores the history and culture of the town and the Schwarzach Valley. Since 1980, it has been housed in the historic rooms of the former town palace, which was the residence of the Wittelsbach prince-electors in the 15th century. The exhibition spans 18 rooms and a lapidarium across a total of 1,000 square metres; its timeline runs from the earliest beginnings to the post-war period.
The GOLDSTEIG premium hiking trail runs directly through Neunburg vorm Wald. A hiking trail circles all of Lake Eixendorf; a cycle path runs along its southern shore, and the Neunburg Yacht Club offers sailing on the lake. These details add hiking, cycling and sailing to the distinct visitor appeal of Neunburg vorm Wald.
