Eight Callot figures depicting male musicians and comedians stand in the Paradise Garden of Neuburg Castle. The castle also features a Renaissance portal associated with the four “Beautiful Halls.” The castle loop, Mariensteg and banks of the Inn add different perspectives on walking and the landscape in Neuburg a.Inn to these cultural attractions.
Castle, bridge and trails along the Inn
The castle loop begins at the Neuburg car park. It follows the Künstlersteig and the Inn Valley Cycle and Hiking Trail to Grottenweg; the return route follows the hiking trail along Burgbergstraße back to the car park. The loop passes through the “Vornbacher Enge” landscape conservation area along romantic trails and offers views of the natural and cultural landscape along the Lower Inn. Check local conditions before setting out.
Mariensteg is a suspension bridge connecting Neuburg a.Inn with Wernstein across the Inn and the Austrian border. It is accessible exclusively to pedestrians and cyclists. This offers two different kinds of route: the castle loop returns to its starting point, while Mariensteg connects the two sides of the Inn and crosses the national border.
Another landmark on the river is the Inntal climbing garden: it lies right on the banks of the Inn in the municipality of Neuburg, between Passau and Neuhaus.
