Röthenbach a.d.Pegnitz offers several ways to explore its history: the Conradty workers’ settlement represents its industrial heritage, while the Historical Town Walk traces the town’s development. There are also cycle routes with clearly specified sequences of places and the annual Flower Festival. This gives you a choice of different focuses when planning your stay: architectural history, urban development, an event or a cycle route.

Industrial Heritage and Town History

The Conradty workers’ settlement was built between 1892 and 1914. It has been preserved in substantial part and is considered a significant monument to industrial history because of its cohesive character. One specific architectural example is the Upper Conradty Settlement, which includes, among other buildings, a three-storey apartment building with decorative half-timbering. This makes it possible to explore the settlement’s history not only through its period of construction but also through a described architectural detail.

The Historical Town Walk takes you past eleven notable places in Röthenbach and traces its development from a small mill settlement into an industrial town and workers’ town. You can freely choose your starting and finishing points, for example at the station, Rathausplatz or in the town centre; navigation guides you to the next stop each time. The settlement and the walk offer different perspectives: one focuses on the preserved ensemble and its architectural styles, the other on the broader historical changes in the town.

Museum and Notable Buildings

The Conradtyhaus Town Museum at Mühlgasse 1 is open on Sundays and public holidays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is closed on Christmas holidays, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Check the public holiday opening arrangements before your visit.

The Catholic Church of St. Boniface has a Steinmeyer organ, a round-arched window by Nuremberg glass artist Alfons Abel and a 35-metre-high tower. The Moritzberg observation tower, built by the Moritzberg and Surrounding Area Beautification Association, has stood on Moritzberg since 1911. Next to the summit is a chapel dedicated to Saint Mauritius, dating from the 15th century. Each of these buildings offers a distinct point of interest for a stay focused on cultural history.

Flower Festival and Cycle Routes

The annual Flower Festival takes place in Röthenbach. On 30 August 2026, the traditional Flower Festival parade started at 2 p.m. at the Old Festival Grounds in Pegnitzgrund. It followed a circular route through Röthenbach and ended at Hubert-Munkert-Platz; a selection of the Flower Festival floats was displayed there afterwards. For future editions, it is worth checking the date and route, as the parade route may change.

The named stops on the cycle routes also help distinguish between the different routes. Cycle Route I runs from Seespitzschule via the state forest to the motorway bridge and on to the district of Renzenhof. Cycle Route II runs from Röthenbach towards Schwaig via the industrial estate, Diepersdorf and Renzenhof, then returns to Röthenbach via the motorway bridge. Cycle Route III starts in the Seespitze district, passes under the railway bridge along the state forest and reaches the motorway bridge at Himmelgarten. Of these three routes, Cycle Route II is explicitly described as a return route to Röthenbach; the other routes lead to Renzenhof or to the motorway bridge at Himmelgarten. As route conditions may change, it is worth checking for current information before setting off.
