From the Zeidel Museum in the Hutzler House to the bird-watching trail with nine stops, Feucht offers a variety of ways to enjoy a trip combining culture and outdoor activities. Its historic buildings also tell stories of different eras and subjects. You can choose the focus of your stay based on whether you are interested in architectural history, space travel or nature.

Museums and Historic Buildings

Since 1984, the Zeidel Museum has been housed in the Hutzler House, which belongs to the Feucht market municipality. In two ground-floor rooms, a private non-profit association presents changing exhibitions by artists from the region. The museum’s location thus connects with an exhibition programme whose content changes and which showcases regional art.

The Hermann Oberth Space Travel Museum offers a different thematic perspective. Founded in 1971, it is dedicated to the life’s work of Professor Hermann Oberth (1894–1989). The two museums have different focuses: one features changing exhibitions of regional art, while the other centres on the life’s work of a pioneer of space travel.

The three manor houses built in Feucht are Zeidler Castle, Pfinzing Castle and Tucher Castle. The latter took its present form in 1590/91, incorporating one of the three former manor houses of Nuremberg patricians in Feucht. The garden also has its own history: over the course of the 18th century, it was redesigned as a Baroque garden.

Another ensemble comprises the church, the Old Forge and the sexton’s house, formerly Feucht’s schoolhouse. This group is complemented by the Baroque rectory, dating from 1732, in the adjoining rectory garden. Together, the buildings offer several concrete reference points for tracing the chronology of Feucht’s architectural history.

Daniela Semann offers guided tours in Feucht. If you would like to include a tour in your plans, check in advance whether a suitable date is available.

Bird Trail, Running and Cycling Routes

The bird-watching trail has nine stops with information about local bird species, their way of life, diet and breeding seasons. Birdsong can be heard at every stop. The trail starts at Crottendorfer Weg / Altdorfer StraĂźe and ends at Sparkassenplatz. Nature observation and information about birds are the shared focus here.

Feucht has a network of running and walking routes comprising twelve routes with a total length of 69.5 kilometres. The four starting points in Feucht offer different ways to plan your outing: you can shorten a route or extend it by combining it with another. This makes it possible to adjust your choice of route within this network to the distance you want to cover.

Cyclists also have a specific route to explore: Feucht lies on stage 4 of the Sinnesradweg, which runs from Feucht to Schnaittach. For a different kind of exercise, the Feuchtasia has a sports pool. Its water surface covers more than 1,000 square metres, and the pool is suitable for swimming laps.

The NĂĽrnberger Land as a Wider Region

Beyond Feucht, the Nürnberger Land offers a broader regional perspective. More than 3,000 kilometres of signposted hiking trails and developed cycling paths of varying difficulty run through the Nürnberger Land. One specific example in the region is the “Hohenstein (634 m) – SevenSummits” route in Kirchensittenbach: it is 10.1 kilometres long, with 406 metres of ascent and 397 metres of descent. Trail conditions can change, so check them before setting out. This helps distinguish Feucht’s own routes from the wider range of options in the broader destination.
