Local History Museum in Historic Buildings
The Nüdlingen Local History Museum is housed in a half-timbered building erected as a school in 1794, as well as in the adjoining gate tower dating from the 13th century. The two structures reflect different periods of construction. The museum focuses on the way of life of the village’s former residents and on sacred and secular cultural artefacts from various periods up to the present day. Its collections thus range from earlier village life to religious and secular objects.
A separate section is the fire brigade museum, established in 1982. It presents 200 years of fire brigade history, from leather buckets to a motorised suction and pressure pump. The development of the equipment on display gives this section a technical perspective. The local history museum also houses an owl collection of more than 3,000 exhibits from around the world, made from every kind of material. This extensive collection of owl-themed objects offers a different focus from village and fire brigade history.

Church Art and Services
Nüdlingen’s sacred cultural heritage includes the Catholic church of “St. Kilian und Gefährten.” It houses a Stations of the Cross created by Peter Herrlein, a Madonna figure, a Pietà, and depictions of Saint Sebastian and Saint Kilian. These works form a distinct focus on religious art; at the local history museum, sacred cultural artefacts are displayed alongside secular objects.
