At an altitude of 1,350 metres, La Norma is a car-free mountain resort on a wooded plateau. From there, you can look out over the Vanoise Massif and the upper Arc Valley. Forest, mountain panoramas and a wide range of activities give the place different facets, from walking trails and climbing routes to art and seasonal leisure activities.

Mountain Landscapes and Nature

La Norma lies in the heart of the Alps, opposite the Parc national de la Vanoise. The national park is a protected natural area with remarkable flora and fauna. Its setting on a wooded plateau and views of the massif and the upper Arc Valley can be experienced as two distinct aspects of the landscape. Those wishing to explore the area on foot will find routes with different characteristics—from an easy forest walk to a trail that is mostly downhill.

Forest Trails and Wildlife Watching

The Circuit des Escaliers is considered an easy walk through spruce forest and is suitable for the whole family. The Circuit de la Repose is different: it leads mostly downhill through the forest of La Norma. Seasonal access by cable car is possible. Black grouse are found on the Circuit de la Repose, and nutcrackers also occur nearby. This means the trail combines two distinct planning considerations: its predominantly downhill route and the seasonal option of using a cable car to reach it.

Climbing, Mountain Biking and Ski Touring

The Rocher des Amoureux is about 70 metres high and can be climbed almost all the way around. The rock has around 100 climbing routes, graded from 4a to 8a.

Another highlight is the Marmottons Practice Park around the lakes of La Norma. The mountain bike course features terrain undulations and numerous balance modules. Its seasonal opening and safety measures may change; check them before use. La Norma also offers an introduction to ski touring towards the upper ski area. The availability of this activity may vary by season.

Art and Leisure Activities

The Sentier de l'Art features monumental sculptures that combine local heritage with contemporary and Baroque art in Savoie marble. The Église Saint-Julien de Villarodin is also nearby. Its Lombard bell towers are visible from afar, and the church contains examples of Baroque art in Savoie. A sculpture trail and a nearby church therefore offer different kinds of cultural discovery.

For an action-packed descent, try Norma Loops, a 900-metre-long alpine coaster that runs through the forest of La Norma. The track has ten bends, six bridges and three full 360-degree turns. It is accessible year-round and can be reached directly from the entrance to the resort; check operating access before your trip. As technical details may change and access to the attraction should be checked before travelling, it is advisable to verify both points with up-to-date information.

The aquatic leisure complex includes a 1,000-square-metre swimming area, a water slide and a beach with wooden and grassy areas. It operates seasonally and may be subject to change, so check current opening hours before making plans. This distinction matters when choosing your travel dates: forest trails and climbing routes offer a different focus from seasonal leisure activities. This lets you make the activities that matter for your trip the focus of your plans.
