The Prieuré de Charrière is a protected historic monument on a promontory above the Galaure. In Châteauneuf-De-Galaure, the story of Marthe Robin, the parish church, a signposted mountain biking circuit and products from local businesses are also possible highlights of a stay. You can focus on the history of the monastery and the village, cycling, or learning about cheesemaking and beekeeping.

Monastery history at Charrière

The Prieuré de Charrière overlooks the Galaure from its elevated setting. Guided or commentary-led tours of the monastic complex introduce visitors to rural Franciscan architecture and the history of the monastery. These are closely linked to the life and heritage of the region and the village of Châteauneuf-De-Galaure. Visitors interested in architecture and history can explore both together: the distinctive architecture and the monastery's development. Check the visiting arrangements before you arrive so you can plan your visit accordingly.

Marthe Robin and the Ferme Robin

The Ferme Robin offers a biographical perspective on the area. The house where Marthe Robin lived, as well as the Ferme Robin reception area, are open to visitors daily from 1:45 to 5:30 p.m. The reception area has a permanent exhibition covering various stages of Marthe Robin's life and her message. A film is shown in several languages in a screening room, preparing visitors for a visit to her room. The exhibition and film thus focus on different parts of the visit: an overview of her life and message, and preparation for the room. As visiting arrangements may change, check the opening hours before your visit.

Other traces of history

Châteauneuf's parish church was built in the 19th century, replacing the former castle chapel. A Louis XV-style portal that once dominated the castle entrance still stands today. The Chemin de Croix is also part of the area's history: the parish funded its restoration in 2017, partly through a fundraising campaign. Together, the church, portal and Stations of the Cross tell of different architectural and religious periods in the area.

Cycling and local produce

For a bike ride, the signposted Bancel–Galaure mountain biking circuit is one option. It is 41.68 kilometers long, and its seventh stage passes through the village of Châteauneuf-De-Galaure. The total length describes the circuit, while the stage information indicates its connection to the village.

At GAEC des Baratons, goats and cheesemaking take center stage. The visitor program introduces guests to the daily care of the goats, artisan cheesemaking and the distinctive qualities of Picodon AOP. The farm produces goat's cheese, including Picodon AOP. This offers a look at the product alongside insights into how it is made and the daily care of the animals.

Miels de la Galaure offers a different focus: visitors can talk with the business about bees and the beekeeper's work, and learn more. The honey house sells royal jelly, pollen, propolis and other hive products. It welcomes and advises customers three times a week throughout the year or by appointment. Check availability and which products are currently on offer before your visit. The two producer visits therefore offer distinct experiences: GAEC focuses on goat's cheese and Picodon, while Miels de la Galaure focuses on bees and beekeeping products.
