The Drôme offers several distinct ways to shape a stay: river activities, a clearly defined cycling route, village and château culture, and regional specialities. River and landscape

The Drôme rises in the mountains of the Haut-Diois and flows for 110.64 kilometres before joining the Rhône. You can canoe and raft on the river. The Vélodrôme is a 40-kilometre road cycling route from Livron to Saillans. In the Vercors, Combe-Laval, the Col de la Bataille and the Petits Goulets are among the scenic roads that wind through cliffs and tunnels. The distinction is useful when planning: the Vélodrôme has a clearly defined distance, while the Vercors roads are notable for their routes through cliffs and tunnels.

Around Buis-les-Baronnies and Montbrun-les-Bains, there are walks where you can discover lavender landscapes. The hillsides near Grignan, Nyons and Dieulefit are also covered in lavender. Villages, history and heritage

The Tour de Crest is France’s tallest medieval keep. Mirmande is classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France. Since 17 September 2003, the Château de Grignan has held the designation Musée de France and offers insights into ways of life from various historical periods. These cultural highlights offer different perspectives: medieval architecture, a classified village, and historical artefacts in the château. In addition, Saint Sébastien and Saint Roch are represented at heritage sites in almost 80 municipalities in the Drôme.

Regional specialities

Caillette de Chabeuil is one of the Drôme’s specialities. Clairette de Die is a sparkling wine produced in the Drôme. The Drôme has 19 AOC-AOP and 12 IGP indicators. The region’s key aromatic plants include lavender, thyme and rosemary. Regional flavours thus range from a named speciality and a sparkling wine to aromatic plants and quality indicators.
