Vergèze offers different ways to explore history and nature: a guided tour leads from the PERRIER Museum to the original spring, while walking trails, a cycling route and water sports offer further highlights. The combination of PERRIER history, a historic landmark and outdoor activities makes the destination particularly appealing. You can focus on a guided tour, local history or getting active.
The PERRIER Spring and the Bottling Process
The guided tour of the PERRIER Museum leads from the museum to the original spring. If you are interested in the industrial side as well as the spring, you can extend the tour to include an industrial gallery, which offers insights into the bottling process. This gives you two different perspectives on PERRIER history to choose from: the route to the spring and a look at bottling.
The Musée et Source PERRIER showcases the place where the iconic French mineral water originated more than 160 years ago. Before making plans, check the visiting and booking conditions, as booking conditions may change.
Historical Traces in Vergèze
The 13th-century Cheminée Sarrazine can be seen at the present-day private school “La Sarrazine.” Since December 1949, it has been listed in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments. Considered the only visible relic, it is a trace of the period when the village was probably established at its current location between 1000 and 1200. The date of the Cheminée and the carefully qualified account of the village’s origins offer two different perspectives on the site’s history.
The Parc du Cottage offers another historical connection to the PERRIER Spring: it was once the residence of the spring’s British directors. So alongside the area’s earlier history, you can also discover the park’s former use by the directors of the time.
Walking Trails, Cycling Route and Water Sports
Boisement Perrier is open to everyone and offers more than 2 km of walking trails. The wooded area covers 17 hectares and was created through plantings in autumn 1997 as part of the “2,000 Trees for the Year 2000” initiative. It therefore combines a specific opportunity for a walk with a named origin story. As trail conditions may change, check them before your visit.
For a cycling option, the La Voie Verte route runs to Vergèze and its cooperage museum. Check route conditions before setting off. You can choose a route to suit your preferred activity: Boisement offers walking trails, while La Voie Verte is a cycling route with a named destination in Vergèze.
At Plage des Lacs, visitors can go paddleboarding and take part in other water sports from a pontoon. Equipment availability may change, so check before making plans. A natural reed bed at Plage des Lacs is home to rich biodiversity and offers a peaceful setting. Water sports and the reed bed are two distinct aspects of the site.
If you are looking for a cultural and historical focus, the guided tour and the Cheminée Sarrazine offer different themes: one leads to the spring and can be extended to include insights into bottling, while the other points to local history. If you prefer to be active, walking trails, a cycling route and water sports offer different ways to shape your stay.
