Les Vignes de l’Arque brings together several aspects of wine in Baron: production, tastings and a shop selling regional products. It is also connected to the historic Château de l’Arque and offers experiences from Janma. This lets you tailor your stay to your interests—from wine and history to massage and sound.
Wine and Regional Produce
At the more than 80-hectare Les Vignes de l’Arque estate, distinctive wines are produced under the AOP Duché d’Uzès, IGP Pays d’Oc and IGP Cévennes designations. These three designations provide a clear framework for the wine production: if you are interested in where the wines come from, you can look to these names. The different designations are as much a part of the estate’s profile as the size of its vineyards.
The Les Vignes de l’Arque wine cellar offers tastings from a range of wines. Regional products take centre stage in the shop. This distinction is helpful when planning: the tasting focuses on the estate’s wines, while the shop carries a selection of different products. You can decide whether you would mainly like to discover the wine range or explore other produce.
The shop’s selection includes spirits, beer, juices and champagne, as well as dried fruit, olives and local oils. It therefore features a range of drinks and food products. For wine enthusiasts, the selection complements the tasting by offering a broader look at regional products; other product categories are represented too. The examples listed range from drinks to oils and olives.
Events and Historic Connections
A Marché Nocturne à Baron is scheduled for 2026. Winegrowers, breweries, beekeepers and ceramicists come together there. Artisans present jewellery, decorative items and cosmetics, and food and drink are also available on site. Unlike the wine tasting, the focus here is not on a single wine range, but on the variety of participating producer groups and craftspeople. If you would like to plan your trip around the market, check the event dates for 2026.
Another historic connection of the estate is the medieval Château de l’Arque de Baron, which dates back to the 9th century and overlooks the estate. The estate’s name and the logo on the label refer to this building. At Les Vignes de l’Arque, wine production and a historic reference thus come together; this connection is reflected both in the name and in the label’s design.
The memorial to Jean Roupain and André Aboulin commemorates the sacrifice of the two Resistance fighters. It was erected by the 38e Compagnie CFL and the FUJP of Alès. It was inaugurated on 11 November 1945 at the initiative of the 38e Compagnie des Corps-francs de la Libération (CFL) and the Forces unies des jeunesses patriotiques (FUJP) of Alès. The date, dedication and organisations involved provide a precise historical context for this commemoration.
Massage and Sound at Janma
Janma focuses on experiences other than wine and culture. Clients are welcomed for Ayurvedic Yoga Massage in Baron. Janma also offers an immersive sound journey, which can be experienced individually or in a group. There are therefore two different options: a massage and a sound journey that can be experienced alone or together. If you would like to include one of these experiences in your travel plans, check availability in advance; the format and offering may change.
