The “De Maffliers Ă  la forĂȘt” route gives your planning a concrete time frame. Notre-Dame-des-Champs church and the Manoir Notre-Dame are examples of historic architecture; the ForĂȘt de l’Isle-Adam offers a distinct nature theme in Val-d’Oise.

Walking: a loop with clear details

The “De Maffliers Ă  la forĂȘt” route is an easy 8 km circular walk and takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes. The distance, circular route and approximate duration help you estimate how much time to set aside for this activity. This lets you fit the walk into your day’s plans without treating the stated duration as exact.

The walk starts and ends at the Parking de l'Ă©cole in Maffliers. The route passes through Maffliers, Nerville-la-ForĂȘt and Montsoult, extending beyond the municipality where it begins. Before setting off, check locally whether parking is available. Trail conditions and access rules may also change.

The ForĂȘt de l'Isle-Adam as a nature destination

The ForĂȘt de l'Isle-Adam is one of the three major state forests in Val-d'Oise. It covers 1,547 hectares on the left bank of the Oise. Several ponds and a wide variety of plants and animals characterize this natural area. While the walk is defined by its route and duration, the forest is best understood through its area, bodies of water and biodiversity. The figure in hectares makes its extent tangible; the ponds and the diversity of plant and animal life add further natural features to this sense of scale.

Notre-Dame-des-Champs church

Notre-Dame-des-Champs church has been listed as a historic monument since 1931. Its bell tower dates from 1574, and the choir is designed in the Renaissance style. This brings together a dated architectural feature, an architectural style and a historic designation.

The church probably replaced an earlier chapel. Inside is a polychrome wooden statue of the Virgin and Child dating from the early 14th century. The statue and the bell tower thus represent distinctly different historical periods. The wooden statue is several centuries older than the bell tower.

Manoir Notre-Dame: construction date and park history

The present-day Manoir Notre-Dame was built in 1905 by Germain Fourcade. It combines regional and Neo-Norman architectural styles; its features include half-timbered façades. The manor can therefore be understood through its construction date and distinctive architectural blend.

The municipality acquired the manor in 2010 and opened its park to all residents. If you plan to visit the park, check the current access conditions in advance. This keeps the manor’s architectural history and the question of visiting the park as two separate planning points.
