Corravillers can be explored through clearly distinct themes: the former toolmaking industry of Forge Clément, the architectural history and furnishings of Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste, and scenic destinations on the edge of the Plateau des 1000 Étangs. Col du Mont de Fourche offers views of the Vosges massif; Rochers de la Louvière and Cascade du Tampa are also named excursion destinations. When planning your visit, you can choose between industrial history, church art and landscapes.

Forge Clément and Corravillers’ industrial history

Forge Clément was founded in Corravillers in 1852 as a factory producing forged tools. It specialised in agricultural implements such as hoes, shovels, pickaxes, rakes and mattocks. These types of tools give the factory’s history a specific focus: it chiefly produced equipment for agricultural work. The former Forge Clément is now closed; old machinery has been preserved and bears witness to the site’s industrial and technical heritage.

Church architecture and sacred art

Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste was rebuilt in the last quarter of the 18th century. The bell-tower porch, built in the 17th century, and the choir were retained. The late Gothic choir contrasts with a Neoclassical portal, bringing different architectural forms together in the church.

The furnishings include a listed group of statues of the Apostles from the 18th century, made of polychrome-painted and gilded wood. The building’s history and the group of sculptures offer two distinct ways of looking at the same church: its different construction phases and a specific work of sacred art.

Scenic destinations on the Plateau des 1000 Étangs

Corravillers lies at the gateway to the Plateau des 1000 Étangs and is one of the municipalities in the Plateau des mille Étangs Natura 2000 site, a Special Protection Area (SPA). Col du Mont de Fourche is at an elevation of 625 m and offers a viewpoint overlooking the Vosges massif. Other excursion destinations in Corravillers include Rochers de la Louvière and Cascade du Tampa.

There are several different ways to experience the landscape: the view of the Vosges massif is an explicit part of the excursion to Col du Mont de Fourche; Rochers de la Louvière and Cascade du Tampa are two other named destinations.

Local legend and cycle path

A local legend is associated with Pas de la Saint Jean: a footprint is said to have been left in a rock. The story has been passed down as a legend and adds a local tale to the area’s architectural and industrial history.

The Melisey–Faucogney-et-la-Mer cycle path runs towards Corravillers. At the Vierge du Reposou viewpoint, the route continues towards Esmoulières. These directions and the viewpoint provide the reference points for this section of the route.
