Ardon offers a variety of ways to enjoy a stay: walks in the Dolines de Limère natural area, local history at Saint-Pierre church, and activities ranging from golf to the relaxation pool at Les Balnéades. When choosing Ardon as your destination, you can first decide whether landscape, historical details, or sporting and relaxing activities are your priority. The routes and places offer specific options, each with its own character.

Dolines de Limère natural area

Designated as a Sensitive Natural Area, the Dolines de Limère natural area covers 63 hectares and has been open for walks since 2010. Its landscape includes meadows, woodland and clearings. Open spaces thus sit alongside wooded areas, so the natural area cannot be described by its size alone. If nature is the focus of your stay, you will find a place here that is expressly open for walks.

Routes and starting points

The car park at Ardon town hall is the starting point for both Boucle 10 – Buglain and Boucle 09 – Le Château de Villiers. The Dolines de Limère car park is also listed as an access point for Boucle 09. The route description, updated on 6 June 2025, gives this route a distance of 14.3 kilometres. Activities listed include hiking, electric bike rides, VTC and mountain biking, as well as horse riding. When choosing, you can therefore weigh up two aspects: the town hall as the stated starting point for both routes, and the additional access point for Boucle 09. The activity information applies to this route. This distinguishes it from Boucle 10, for which the starting point is the specific reference point given here.

Church, fountain and historic routes

Saint-Pierre church was burned down in 1562; its choir dates from 1845. It also houses a 16th-century polychrome wooden reliquary. These details belong to different periods: the fire, choir and reliquary can be distinguished chronologically without grouping them into a single building phase.

A Roman road from Orléans via Limoges to Périgueux once ran through Olivet and Ardon. This historic route adds an earlier connection through the town to the architectural details of the church. The Chemin de Villiers also follows a former Gallo-Roman road between Paris and Limoges.

The Fontaine d’Ardon stands on the village green near the church. It is made of dressed stone and rubble stone, has a small roof of regional tiles, and features a rim from which water can be drawn. Its location, materials and function give the fountain a character of its own alongside the historical details of the church.

Golf and relaxation

Gaïa Concept Golf Orléans Limère Ardon combines water features with greens protected by bunkers. The golf course also has a six-hole practice course for beginners. These provide two distinct points to consider when planning: the water features, greens and bunkers describe the course’s design, while the practice course is expressly intended for beginners.

At Les Balnéades, the relaxation pool covers 200 square metres and has a water temperature of 33 degrees. The pool includes an aquavitality circuit. Alongside golf and walks, this offers another kind of activity in the town: a relaxation pool with a circuit whose area and temperature are specified.
