Oisly brings together different discoveries: the village lies within the AOP Touraine Oisly winegrowing area between the Loire and Cher rivers. At the same time, local themes include individual traces of winegrowing, a distinctive church and the Bavet stream. You can explore the area during your stay through its wineries and tastings, or through its cultural and natural history.

Winegrowing, appellation and visits

Domaine des Corbillières is located in Oisly and covers 20 hectares farmed organically. The estate also includes a Sauvignon plot with 16 rows planted in 1964. The history of Domaine Octavie is also linked to Oisly’s winegrowing: its roots date back to 1885. Another distinct historical milestone concerns Domaine des Corbillières: Fabel Barbou acquired it in 1923. These dates therefore refer to different chapters in the local history of winegrowing.

Visitor experiences vary in format. Domaine des Corbillières welcomes visitors to its wine cellar by prior arrangement. Domaine Octavie offers a tour, a wine tasting or a personal discussion about its wines. Divin Loire organizes vineyard and wine-cellar tours by prior arrangement. Please arrange appointments in advance for these experiences.

At Domaine Pré Baron, a guided tour lasts 1.5 hours and is followed by a commented wine tasting. The estate also offers an e-bike tour through Oisly’s terroir, ending with a wine tasting. Both formats include a tasting, but have different focuses: a guided tour on the one hand, and an e-bike tour on the other. Check the latest booking and program details before your trip. Divin Loire also offers a wine tasting and a tasting of local products; snack platters are available for an additional charge.

Food recommendations also offer a specific insight into the wines. Domaine Penet recommends pairing its Touraine Oisly with goat’s cheese, shellfish or fish in sauce. This lets you pair the wine tasting with a suitable dish without needing to follow a particular menu sequence. When choosing between the experiences, the main considerations are the kind of visit you want and the producers’ different wine offerings.

Local history and landscape

The Church of Saint-Hippolyte in Oisly is the only church in the Loir-et-Cher département dedicated to Saint Hippolytus. Another trace of winegrowing is a vineyard hut on the road to Contres. Oisly and Sassay restored it in 2013 as part of a joint project. The church and hut thus represent different aspects of local heritage: religious dedication and work in the vineyards.

The Chêne Gaillard oak is part of the area’s natural history. Its trunk measures 4.90 metres in circumference, and its age is estimated at around 500 years. The course of the Bavet is another tangible feature of the landscape: the stream rises near the centre of Oisly, then flows through Couddes and Choussy before reaching Monthou-sur-Cher. This is a different local theme from the wine experiences, which focus on individual producers and the formats of their visits.

During a stay in Oisly, you can therefore choose among several interests: winegrowing, with its producers’ histories and tastings; cultural heritage, with the church and vineyard hut; or natural features such as Chêne Gaillard and the Bavet. If you plan to visit wineries, take note of any stated requirements to book in advance and arrange appointments in good time.
