Orchards and vineyards preserve the agricultural character of Mont-Près-Chambord, while extensive state forests also shape its forestry character. Both aspects of the landscape are part of the town’s identity. If you would like to plan your stay around your interests in the cultural landscape or the forest, you’ll find two clearly distinct themes here: orchards and vineyards on the one hand, and state forests on the other.

Routes with Different Destinations

The Route des Vergers conservatoires de Mont-Près-Chambord is a 7.2 km circular route that starts in Mont-Près-Chambord. Circuit 1 is 9 km long and leads to the Verger conservatoire. Circuit 2 is 10.5 km long; it also leads to the Verger conservatoire, as well as to the Rain de la forêt on the forest edge and the Four de la Tuilerie. The routes therefore differ both in length and in their destinations. The Rain de la forêt adds a forest edge to the route, while the Verger conservatoire is named as a destination on two routes.

The routes range in length from 7.2 to 9 to 10.5 km. If a circular route is important to you, the 7.2 km route is the right option to consider; if you would like to compare several named stops, you’ll find these on Circuit 2. The shorter route to the Verger conservatoire and the longer route, with its forest edge and Four de la Tuilerie, offer different points of reference when choosing. Check the current route before setting out.

Baignade naturelle du Grand Chambord

The Baignade naturelle du Grand Chambord opened in 2008. Its pool covers 2,000 m². The water is biologically treated in a closed circuit, without chlorine or chemical products. The Baignade is located within a 1.5-hectare area for nature-based leisure activities. There you’ll find outdoor playgrounds, walking paths and picnic areas. The pool area and water treatment describe two different features; the larger leisure area also offers opportunities for walks and picnics. For planning your visit, it’s advisable to check the current visitor information in advance. The area figures put the pool in context with the entire leisure area: 2,000 m² is equivalent to around 13 percent of the 1.5-hectare leisure area.

Église Saint-Martin and Heritage

Circuit 2 also leads to the Église Saint-Martin, a 16th-century church. It houses numerous religious objects and furnishings, several of which are listed as historic monuments. This route therefore connects named landscape features with a specific heritage destination. If you would like to consider history as well as nature and route length when choosing, the church is another point of reference for Circuit 2.
