Prissac is located in the southwest of the Indre department and is part of the Brenne Regional Natural Park; this designation helps preserve its natural heritage. Circular trails, a cycling route and historical collections showcase different aspects of the area.
On Foot and by Bike
The “Au long de la Sonne” circular trail No. 50 starts in Prissac. It is 11.5 kilometres long, marked in yellow and takes about three hours. Following shaded minor roads and paths, it passes Château la Garde Giron and Moulin de la Charpagne, and crosses the river at a ford. The ford is impassable after heavy rain; take this restriction into account when planning your route.
The “Mosaïque bocagère” circular trail No. 17 runs through the hilly bocage landscape of the Abloux valley and ends at the municipal pond. If you are choosing between the two trails, No. 50 comes with specific distance and duration details, while the landscape and pond-side endpoint provide the main points of reference for No. 17. Cycling route No. 10 through the bocage of the Abloux valley follows quiet roads and passes through a landscape of hedgerows and traditional buildings.
Nature at Gué de Laveau
Gué de Laveau in the municipality of Prissac has been a protected biotope under a prefectural decree since 13 August 2025. A walk at the ford introduces visitors to European pond turtles, butterflies and dragonflies; it also covers measures that reconcile farming with biodiversity. Check the dates of the walk in advance.
Church, Museums and History
Two building phases can be distinguished at Église Saint-Martin: the bell-tower porch dates from the late 12th century, while the second part, with two identical naves, dates from the 15th century. The vaults are decorated with painted foliage and floral motifs. The seigneurial chapel contains religious depictions, including saints and a Mass of Saint Gregory, as well as a hunting scene.
The 3 Musées de Prissac bring together three collection areas. The agricultural machinery collection includes hand tools, tractors and combine harvesters; the collections comprise more than 571 objects and documents on display. Espace Gutenberg traces the technological development of printing equipment over five centuries. Le Facteur rural focuses on 150 years of postal history in Berry. The church provides an architectural and artistic focus; the museums complement it with the history of technology and the postal service.
Château de la Motte, a former Augustinian commandery of Montmorillon, overlooks the Abloux valley.
At Étang Rémy Louveau
Étang Rémy Louveau has a play area and a picnic area. Fishing is organised by an association and is open to everyone. The municipal pond is on the D10 at the entrance to Prissac from the direction of Saint-Benoît-du-Sault.
