When looking for a holiday rental in Le Tronchet, it is worth considering Marboué, the associated municipality. There, architectural history, walks along the Loir and seasonal leisure activities come together. The options range from a tourist walking tour to long-distance trails, offering different points of interest for planning your trip. The cultural sites and trails described below are in Marboué.
Cultural history in Marboué
The Château des Coudreaux dates from the 18th century and was built on the site of an earlier manor house. It is privately owned. Its façades and roofs, along with those of the outbuildings, were listed as a historic monument on 8 February 1984. The material used for Saint Pierre Church is also of interest from an architectural-history perspective: tuffeau limestone from the Croc Marbot quarries was used to build the church in the 12th century and its bell tower in the 15th century. These are two specific uses of the same stone in different centuries.
Walks and long-distance trails
The walk to Croc Marbot starts at Espace Loisirs des Fontaines and follows the Loir. It is described as a tourist, historical and cultural walk. Along the way, visitors can spot moorhens, swans and wild ducks, as well as carp and other fish. The river and wildlife spotting are part of the same municipal route; local conditions may vary.
For longer routes, there are other options: the section of the GR35 described in Marboué links Verneuil-sur-Avre with Seiches-sur-le-Loir and is considered easy to walk. Marboué is also on the GR 655, the Way of St James from Paris to Tours via Chartres. The endpoints of the described section are given for the GR35, while the GR 655 route is described as passing through Chartres. Waymarking and local conditions may vary.
The Site classé de Dheury is also among Marboué’s tourist walking routes. Randoland–Marboué is a tourist walking tour. Together with the walk to Croc Marbot and the two long-distance trails, these offer a choice of different routes: a trail along the Loir, a walking tour and longer-distance connections.
Seasonal leisure activities on the Loir
The Base de loisirs de Marboué has a 500 m² heated pool, games and inflatable play structures. Activities also include canoeing, pedal boating, mini golf, table football, beach volleyball and pétanque. Seasonal opening and activities may change; check what is available before your visit.
During the season, you can rent a boat at the municipal swimming pool and explore the Loir. Check availability before you travel. This can be planned as a distinct seasonal activity, rather than being confused with the walking trails described as available on an ongoing basis.
Another landscape to discover: the Conie
In the wider region, there are starting points for walking routes along the Conie in several distinctive villages. From these routes, you can view the watercourse and the thatched-roof houses. This adds a different landscape to the trails along the Loir. Routes and water conditions may vary.
