A signposted 9.7-kilometre circular trail, the Méridienne verte and preserved remains of the medieval town centre offer different ways to discover Ardenais: exploring the landscape, following a landmark of national significance and learning about local architectural heritage. If you are looking for a holiday rental, choose one based on the activities you want to shape your stay.

Méridienne verte and architectural heritage

The Méridienne verte passes through Ardenais as part of a line running from north to south across France. This line crosses six regions, 20 départements and 336 municipalities. A stele near the town hall marks the Méridienne verte in the village. In this way, a clearly defined landmark in Ardenais is connected to a line that extends far beyond the village.

The Église Saint-Sulpice is dedicated to Sulpicius the Pious, Archbishop of Bourges in the 7th century. Its choir features a rib vault with flamboyant tracery. The manor house and former priory are considered the only surviving remains of the medieval town centre. Together, the church, manor house and priory offer different ways to explore Ardenais through its architectural heritage.

Circular trail, ponds and landscape

The Circuit des Étangs is a signposted 9.7-kilometre circular trail that you can follow on foot, by bicycle or on horseback. It passes the local ponds and follows the route to Santiago de Compostela. The loop crosses hilly, green countryside. Its set distance and three possible ways of getting around give you specific details to help plan your outing.

The GR® 654 offers a different stretch of trail: after leaving Ardenais, it continues along a pleasant path lined with hedges and trees. This means you can choose between a signposted loop with a stated distance and a trail bordered by hedges and trees after it leaves the village. Check local conditions before setting out.

Farm produce and activities

La Ferme du Bouc' et d'Fromage processes all its milk on the farm and sells goat's cheese and goat meat. The products available may change; check in advance to find out what is currently on offer.

At an activity at the chèvrerie du Bouc et d’Fromages, visitors can meet the animals, discover farm life alongside the farmer and take part in a tasting with refreshments. If you would like to include this activity in your plans, check the specific dates in advance.

There are several possible focuses for your trip: the Circuit des Étangs and the GR® 654 for exploring the landscape, or the Église Saint-Sulpice, manor house and former priory for architectural heritage.
