Almost eight kilometres of coastline, fine sand and wild dunes define Erdeven, where landscape and ocean meet. There are different ways to shape your stay: beach activities, protected coastal areas or trails through the countryside. If you’re looking for a hotel, first consider what you’d like your days to focus on—water sports, observing nature or hiking. The places and routes in Erdeven offer concrete points of reference.

Coast: water sports or observing nature

At Plage de Kerhillio, you can go land sailing, surfing, kitesurfing and stand-up paddleboarding. Conditions and regulations may vary by season, so check them before setting out. Plage de Kerouriec offers a different experience: protected dunes line the beach, which is well suited to hiking and photography, as well as observing coastal flora and fauna. This lets you focus your time on the coast more on activities or on observing nature, without reducing both interests to the same beach experience.

Plage de Kerminihy is also a protected site. It is suitable for nature walks accompanied by a guide. If you plan to have a guide, check in advance what is currently on offer. Also check local access and safety conditions before swimming there or entering the dunes.

Choose trails by length and character

The easy Sentier de l’Océan is four kilometres long and takes about an hour. It connects the centre of Erdeven with the coast. The equally easy Sentier de la Roche Sèche is a five-kilometre circular route through paths and rural landscapes; the stated duration is about one hour and 15 minutes. At around an hour, the Sentier de l’Océan takes less time than the Roche Sèche circular route. If you prefer a longer route, the easy, twelve-kilometre Sentier des Mégalithes leads to Erdeven’s megalithic monuments. Check local signage and accessibility before setting out.

The trails therefore differ in more than just length: the Sentier de l’Océan connects the town centre and the coast, the Roche Sèche is a loop through rural landscapes, and the Sentier des Mégalithes focuses on the monuments. This makes it possible to match your planned distance with your preferred theme, without assuming an unspecified walking time for any of the three routes.

Cycling connection and shorter trails

For a bike ride, the Littorale, signposted as Voie verte V45, provides a safe cycling connection from Erdeven in the direction of Quiberon or Étel. As infrastructure can change, check the current signage before setting off. The route description indicates the direction of the connection; it does not define a specific day trip.

Parc de Kéravéon has shady paths and a health trail about 1.5 kilometres long. This is considerably shorter than the four-, five- and twelve-kilometre routes described above. If you’d like to include a shorter route in your plans, this gives you a separate, specified point of reference. The shady paths also give the park a different character from routes leading to the sea, through rural landscapes or to the megaliths.

Megaliths and events

The largest menhirs at Kerzerho, known as the “Géants de Kerzerho,” are about six metres tall and weigh around 40 tonnes. These approximate measurements give you a sense of the monuments’ scale. The Sentier des Mégalithes offers a route for discovering Erdeven’s megalithic monuments; the Kerzerho menhirs are a separately named point of interest.

Erdeven lists the Fête des oignons and the Festival des chapelles among its events. Check current dates in advance to see whether either coincides with your travel dates. Coastal activities may be subject to different conditions and regulations depending on the season; it’s also worth checking signage and accessibility for the trails. This lets you plan around the specific opportunities available during your trip, whether you’re interested in the coast, nature or culture.
