Explore Crach through its historic sites and waterside landscape. The municipality is bordered to the east by the Rivière d’Auray, and the Anse de Kervilor is home to numerous oyster farms. There are also chapels, megalithic sites and easy cycling routes that can be ridden year-round. If you are looking for accommodation in Crach, you could first consider whether to focus on architectural history, megaliths, the waterside landscape or a cycling loop.

Chapels, Fountains and Megaliths

The Fontaine Saint-André is a double fountain made of hewn stone, built in the early 17th century. One part served the village, the other the adjacent chapel. The Chapelle Saint-Jean dates from the 16th century. The Chapelle du Plas-Kaër was inaugurated in 1874 on the site of an older chapel built by the Knights Templar in the 15th century. Its design is a Gothic Revival Latin cross.

The Chapelle Saint-André houses a Merovingian granite sarcophagus, considered one of the oldest monuments in the département of Morbihan. The megaliths offer a different perspective on the past: the Allée couverte du Luffang and the Dolmen de Kervin-Brigitte are significant sites in Crach and are freely accessible. Check local access conditions before your visit.

At the Dolmen du Petit Kerambel, a passage leads to a burial chamber; it is a Neolithic tomb. The Menhir de Kervive is also Neolithic and is dated to between 7,000 and 4,500 years before the present. The sites therefore differ in form: one is a passage tomb and its chamber, while the other is a menhir, or upright stone. Together, they invite you to consider the different forms of megalithic remains rather than treating them as similar attractions.

Waterside Landscapes and Further Discoveries

The Rivière d’Auray forms the eastern boundary of the municipality. The Anse de Kervilor is home to numerous oyster farms. Fort Espagnol is also mentioned in connection with panoramic views over the rias of Crach. The Moulin à marée du Latz is another place to visit in Crach. These sites offer different ways to experience the landscape: through the river boundary, oyster farming, the rias and a tidal mill.

Cycling Routes and Practical Information

The Douar ha Mor cycling route starts at Place Le Méné and is rated easy and rideable year-round. The Circuit des trois ponts and the Circuit de la rivière d’Auray are also easy cycling routes that can be ridden year-round. All three routes therefore share the same rating; a specific starting point is also provided for Douar ha Mor. Route conditions and signs may change, so check local conditions before setting out.

Along the Douar ha Mor cycling route, there are two twin fountains in a wetland, 50 metres from the chapel. The Église Saint-Thuriau is a named stop on a cycling loop through Crach. Planning a cycling trip can therefore take you to individual buildings and landmarks, not just the named routes. The Pardon de Saint-André takes place every year on the second Sunday in May. If you plan your trip around this date, check local regulations in advance.
