For a stay in Aurions-Idernes, wineries and trails offer two distinct focuses. The planning details also differ: the cycling route has a stated duration and distance, while the walk offers a range of route lengths.
Wineries and Countryside
Domaine du Crampilh is a 13-hectare winery that has been run by the same family for four generations. Its panoramic terrace offers views of vineyards, rolling hills and the Pyrenees. Here, the generations-old family operation sits alongside sweeping views across the countryside. Guided tours are available by prior arrangement.
Domaine Hourcadet is located in the Madiran and Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh wine-growing areas. At its wine cellar, the winery offers free tastings of several wines; guided tours are also available by prior arrangement. Its connection with wine is reflected both in its location within the two wine-growing areas and in the cellar tastings.
The choice between the two visits comes down to their different highlights: the view from Crampilh’s terrace or a tasting of several wines in Hourcadet’s cellar. Guided tours at both wineries require prior arrangement; please agree on a time before your visit.
Cycling and Walking Trails
The Entre crĂŞtes et vignoble route is a 24.6-kilometre mountain biking loop in Aurions-Idernes, with a stated duration of three hours. The combination of distance and duration helps you plan the ride as a dedicated activity in your day. Check local trail conditions before setting out.
Clos Les Mets d’Âmes offers a different kind of outing. This five-hectare biodynamic winery has a lake and two ponds. The Balade enchantée des Mets d’Âmes takes you through vineyards, along trails and through woodland. Routes range from 100 metres to more than three kilometres; the walk is available by reservation. Alongside the three-hour cycling route, this offers a choice of route lengths, making your preferred distance a practical point of comparison. In terms of area, Domaine du Crampilh, at 13 hectares, is larger than Clos Les Mets d’Âmes, at five hectares. The landscape features also differ: Crampilh has a panoramic terrace, while Clos has a lake and two ponds.
The two routes offer different ways to plan: the mountain biking loop has both a set distance and duration, while the walk ranges from 100 metres to more than three kilometres. You can first decide whether you would rather plan your activity around a time frame or your preferred route length.
