For a stay in Saint-Colomb-De-Lauzun, architectural history and activities at Lac des Graoussettes offer two different starting points. Église Saint-Colomban, the town hall and Chartreuse Montplaisir reveal different chapters of the area’s architectural heritage; at the lake, hiking, fishing and mountain biking take centre stage. Seasonal vegetables sold directly by the producer round out the experience. You can plan your trip around cultural interests, outdoor activities or a culinary focus.
Church and architectural history
Église Saint-Colomban dates from the 11th and 13th centuries and was listed as a historic monument by decree on 22 February 1927. The church’s three sanctuary paintings were created by local painter Tartas in the 19th century. The church is open for free visits year-round until 6 pm. As visiting arrangements may change, check locally before your trip.
The town hall is housed in an 18th-century half-timbered barn. It also has a dovecote dating from the same period. Chartreuse Montplaisir tells a different architectural story: the building dates from the 17th century, was originally called a château and has been converted into tourist accommodation. The timeline therefore spans the church’s origins in the 11th and 13th centuries, the 17th-century chartreuse, the town hall and dovecote from the 18th century, and the 19th-century paintings.
Hiking, fishing and mountain biking
Lac des Graoussettes covers 32.8 hectares and is a second-category fishing lake. You can fish for zander, pike and largemouth bass, or fish for carp at night; seasonal regulations apply to fishing. A marked hiking trail runs around the lake. The lake offers a choice of different activities: fishing or walking along the lakeside trail.
The “Randonnée du Patrimoine” is a now-traditional hiking event for walking enthusiasts. The 2025 edition’s route was about 3.5 kilometres long and offered the chance to discover the municipality’s main heritage sites. Dates vary, so plan around the date of the event in a given year. Circuit VTT 9 – Le Lac des Graoussettes starts at the Lac des Graoussettes car park in Saint-Colomb-de-Lauzun. Check the route details before setting off.
The options differ in focus: the Randonnée du Patrimoine combines hiking with heritage, the marked trail runs around the lake, and the VTT route starts at the Lac des Graoussettes car park.
Seasonal farm sales and finding accommodation
La Ferme du Laulanet sells seasonal vegetables directly from the producer to consumers and offers farm-gate sales. The farm is open year-round, but opening hours vary by season; check the hours before visiting. Year-round opening and a seasonal selection are two distinct aspects of a visit to the farm.
