Nové Hutě is located in the Šumava Protected Landscape Area on the border of Šumava National Park. Two distinct highlights can help you choose this destination: winter sports at the ski resort and on cross-country ski trails, and the history of the local glassworks and the Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. When looking for a hotel, you can first decide which of these themes you would like to focus on during your trip. Its location in Šumava provides the landscape setting, while its activities and historical themes offer different starting points for your plans.

Skiing and cross-country skiing

The Nové Hutě ski resort is suitable for families with children, as well as beginner and lower-intermediate skiers. It has the 1,050-metre-long Tatrapoma ski lift. Cross-country ski trails also lead from Nové Hutě towards Pláně, Zadov and Zlatá studna. A regularly groomed cross-country route runs 50 metres from the lift’s upper station: Staré Hutě–Přilba–Zlatá Studna–Zadov–Pláně. Check the current grooming conditions locally before planning this route.

Different aspects matter when comparing activities: for the ski resort, the target group and the lift are the specific points to consider; for cross-country skiing, the directions and route take centre stage. This lets you plan your winter activities around whichever option better suits your travel plans. The two figures refer to different things: 1,050 metres is the length of the ski lift; 50 metres is the distance between the regularly groomed cross-country route and the upper station. The second figure therefore indicates location, not the length of the cross-country trail.

Glassmaking history and the church

The local glassworks, later renamed Mayerova, operated for the longest time in the entire village and closed in 1876. In 1825, a glassworks was established at Studený Potok as the last glassworks in the area. The Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus dates from 1895 to 1901 and is the second-highest church in the Czech Republic. The historical timeline thus ranges from the establishment of a glassworks, through the closure of the local works, to the later construction of the church. The history of local industry and the church offer distinct historical highlights.

Plan parking and accommodation

The municipal car park has spaces for passenger cars up to 3.5 tonnes and for buses. Parking costs 100 Kč per day for both vehicle types. If you are arriving by car or bus, include the daily fee in your travel costs. This gives you a specific expense to factor into your travel plans.
