Padre Las Casas reveals itself through an unusual combination of cultural attractions and open spaces: the Puente Treng Treng Kay Kay crosses the RĂo CautĂn, while Logko Kura stands at the entrance to the city. Parks, a cultural center and Cerro Conun Huenu add to its distinctive sights. This offers a range of ways to plan a stay, with architecture and cultural significance alongside green spaces, outdoor activities and panoramic views.

Bridge and Cultural Connection

The Puente Treng Treng Kay Kay crosses the Río Cautín, connecting the city of Temuco with the commune of Padre Las Casas, and has both cultural and scenic value. It is Chile’s first asymmetrical cable-stayed bridge. Right next to it, at the entrance to Padre Las Casas, stands Logko Kura. Logko Kura symbolizes the connection between two cultures, bringing Mapuche culture into relation with Western culture.

Art and Events

The Centro Cultural de Padre Las Casas is a venue for art, music, theater and the local community. The art project “El Encuentro” comprised three wooden sculptures at the entrance to the cultural center. The three sculptures symbolized dance, theater and music, and were unveiled there at the inauguration. The Fiesta Gastronómica del Estofado de San Juan added a distinctive culinary touch; it was held in Padre Las Casas for the third time.

Green Spaces and Panoramic Views

Parque Pulmahue is located beside the Río Cautín and has extensive green spaces. It is described as the city’s green lung and recommended for walks, relaxation, family activities and outdoor sports. Parque Corvalán offers a different focus: as an urban park in the heart of the city, it features green spaces and play areas. When choosing between the two parks, the difference matters: Pulmahue offers extensive greenery by the Río Cautín and several recommended activities; Corvalán offers green spaces and play areas in the heart of the city. Cerro Conun Huenu is also a natural and cultural landmark and offers panoramic views.

Kayak School in the Commune

The kayak school in the commune of Padre Las Casas began in 2017 on the RĂo CautĂn. After work on the Puente Treng Treng Kay Kay, the initiative moved to the banks of the RĂo Huichahue. In the Prado Huichahue sector, the kayak school was held for the sixth consecutive year as an educational and recreational activity led by the municipal sports department. There, the municipal sports corporation provides 20 kayaks, life jackets and paddles; if you plan to take part, check the current program and equipment availability in advance.
