Arambaré showcases nature on different scales: in the town center stands the roughly 700-year-old fig tree “A Maior Figueira do Estado”; across the municipality, there are also dunes, the Arroio Velhaco and the beaches along the Laguna dos Patos. The sights range from a single tree to a river landscape and a long shoreline. This distinction is helpful when planning your trip: you can discover Arambaré through a specific natural landmark or through its varied water and landscape themes.

The Figueira in the Town Center

The fig tree A Maior Figueira do Estado is roughly 700 years old. Its crown has a radius of 50 m, and its trunk has a circumference of 12 m. These measurements refer to different parts of the tree: the radius describes the crown’s spread from the center to its edge, while the circumference measures all the way around the trunk. The tree’s age, crown radius and trunk circumference therefore provide three concrete reference points for understanding this individual tree.

The town-center location sets the Figueira apart from the landscape features elsewhere in the municipality. If you are interested in trees, you will find not only an age estimate here, but also two measurements that describe the crown and trunk separately. The figures should therefore not be read as two versions of the same measurement: each conveys a different aspect of the tree.

Dunes and River Landscape in the Municipality

The Dunas da Lua de Natal reach a height of 30 m. Centuries-old fig trees grow on their summits. The stated height is thus paired with another natural feature: the dunes are shaped not only by their sandy forms, but also by the old trees on their summits.

The Arroio Velhaco in the municipality of Arambaré offers a different kind of landscape. The river is used for water sports, and its riverbed contains islands of white sand. Here, a described use and a specific feature of the riverbed appear side by side. The Arroio thus complements the dunes with a connection to water, without the two becoming a single place.

Prainha and the Shores of the Laguna dos Patos

Prainha in the municipality of Arambaré has a sandbar about 2 km long. The water there is about 30 cm deep, making it possible to walk long distances in the water. The length of the sandbar and the water depth describe two different aspects of this waterside experience: the extent of the sandbar and the shallow water. Both details help distinguish Prainha as a landscape feature in its own right from the other descriptions of the shoreline.

The beaches along the Laguna dos Patos extend for 18 km of shoreline within the municipality. This figure refers to the beaches along the lagoon, not to Prainha’s sandbar. The comparison is therefore more a matter of scale than a comparison of equivalent distances: Prainha is about a single sandbar, while the 18 km refers to the shoreline of the beaches along the Laguna dos Patos.

A View from the Fishing Platform

The Quito Lima fishing platform is located in Arambaré. From there, you can take in the surrounding nature and a sunset. If you plan to visit the platform, check accessibility beforehand. This lets you include the viewpoint as a distinct feature in your travel plans, alongside the tree measurements, dunes and waterscapes.
