In Porto Do Sauípe, long beach walks meet regional cuisine and traditional piaçava craftsmanship. The location and how to get there also provide clear reference points for planning a stay.

Location and How to Get There

Tourist facilities are concentrated in the coastal zone of the municipality of Entre Rios. The BA-099, also known as Linha Verde, connects this area with Salvador. For the Salvador–Sítio do Conde bus service via the BA-099, both Ent. Porto Sauípe and Porto Sauípe are listed as stops. Check the current timetable before travelling.

Beach Walks in Two Directions

Porto Do Sauípe beach is ideal for long walks, including towards the naturist village of Massarandupió (7 km to the north), the Costa do Sauípe complex (5 km to the south), and the original Vila de Santo Antônio beyond it. The two stated reference points lie in opposite directions; the northern distance is 2 km greater than the southern one.

Regional Cuisine and Leisure

Recanto Romeu e Julieta is a restaurant and pousada in Porto Do Sauípe. It is known for regional cuisine and specialises in moquecas; as a food and tourism offering, it is considered an attraction for visitors to the region. Check before your trip whether it is currently operating.

Espaço Like has a different focus: the lounge bar and restaurant began operating in 2021. The venue is considered a tourist attraction with live music and a meeting place for food and leisure. Check before visiting whether live music is currently taking place.

Nano Beach Club began operating in 2020 and offers facilities for leisure, dining and events. Check in advance whether the club is currently open and events are taking place.

The focus of each venue is therefore distinct: Recanto centres on regional cuisine and moquecas, Espaço Like on live music and leisure, and Nano Beach Club brings together leisure, dining and events.

Piaçava Craftsmanship and Local Production

Traditional handicrafts made from piaçava straw include bags, mats, baskets and other artefacts. Plant fibres such as piaçava are used; they are grown locally and sustainably gathered from nature. Many families, particularly women in the community, have made these items for generations and pass on their skills.

The Association of Women Artisans of Porto Do Sauípe (APASA) promotes local handicrafts and represents the interests of women artisans to institutions and government bodies. Piaçava bags are sold at various locations near the village, as well as at major tourist attractions, street markets, fairs, craft shops and special events.

Location Within a Protected Area

Porto Do Sauípe is located within the Área de Proteção Ambiental do Litoral Norte da Bahia (APA). Its inclusion in the APA adds a broader geographical reference point to its coastal setting.
