On Cù lao An Bình, village roads, canals and special hands-on experiences are all close together. Visitors can cycle along winding village roads between the communes or row along the canals. During Tát mương bắt cá, fish are caught from a drainage ditch. Check before your trip which location currently offers this activity. Tourist boats are the main means of transport for visitors wishing to reach Cù lao An Bình in huyện Long Hồ.

Island Canals, Crafts and Orchards

Khu du lịch Vinh Sang is also located on Cù lao An Bình in huyện Long Hồ. Shady rows of coconut palms, expansive meadows and ponds with clear water define the grounds. There, visitors can try real crocodile fishing with live crocodiles under the guidance of experts. Check before your visit whether this activity is currently offered.

Cơ sở sản xuất cốm - kẹo Cửu Long on Cù lao An Bình offers another way to discover local crafts. Visitors can watch sweets and cốm being made, from the first processing steps through to packaging. In summer, Vĩnh Long’s orchards yield abundant rambutans, mangosteens and durians. The season is part of the experience in its own right: these fruits define the orchards in summer.

The brick and ceramic craft village in Mang Thít has existed for about 100 years. At the brickworks and ceramic kilns, visitors can learn about ceramic production and the traditional culture of the craft village. A trip through Vinh Long thus brings together different forms of craftsmanship: the production of sweets and cốm on Cù lao An Bình and the ceramic tradition in Mang Thít.

Temples, Museum and Memorials

Construction of Văn Thánh Miếu Vĩnh Long began in 1864 and was completed in 1866. It honors Confucius and his disciples and is one of three Văn-Thánh-Miếu temples in southern Vietnam. Ceremonies honoring Confucius and the sages, as well as commemorations for Phan Thanh Giản and other high-ranking officials, are held there each year. If you would like to attend one of these events, check the specific dates in advance.

Chùa Tiên Châu is also officially known as Di Đà Tự or Tiên Châu Di Đà Tự and is dedicated to Amitabha Buddha. It is located in Ấp Bình Lương, xã An Bình, on an island in the Tiền River. To reach it from Vĩnh Long, you must cross the Cổ Chiên River. Its location and the river crossing give the pagoda a different geographical setting from the memorial and cultural sites on land.

At Bảo tàng Vĩnh Long, the exhibition on the ethnic cultures of the Kinh, Hoa and Khmer covers an area of 738 m²; there is also an exhibition of antiques. A reconstructed old house is used to worship the Hùng Vương ancestor. The annual Hùng Vương commemorative ceremony, held on the tenth day of the third lunar month, is a provincial festival.

Another place of remembrance is the memorial to Phạm Hùng in Ấp Long Thuận A, xã Long Phước, huyện Long Hồ, Vĩnh Long. Its construction began in 2000; it was completed in 2004 to mark his 92nd birthday. The site is located on his family’s land and visitors can go there to pay their respects. Together, the museum and memorials offer different ways to explore history and remembrance, while temples and pagodas foreground religious traditions.
