Rainforests, trails and water
Vũ Quang National Park protects a biodiverse rainforest ecosystem with numerous rare animal and plant species. Rainforest, streams, waterfalls and trails running through the forest are among its defining landscape features. The national park is also one of the 28 ASEAN Heritage Parks.
The ecological Trại-Tiểu Lake offers a different natural setting: Its expansive waterside landscape invites visitors to walk, relax and take photographs. Nature experiences in Hà Tĩnh therefore have different focal points: in Vũ Quang, the focus is on the forest and forest trails; at the lake, it is on the waterside landscape and the activities available there.
Suối Rào Àn Stream is in Hà Trai village, in the commune of Sơn Kim 1, amid the unspoiled mountain landscape of Hà Tĩnh’s border region. Its water is clear and cool. Visitors come to the area, but tourism operations are partly informal. Nature exploration and outdoor activities here should be understood as potential opportunities, not as a firmly established visitor program.
Literary history and temples
The Nguyễn Du monument complex in Tiên Điền was recognized as a provincial-level tourist site on June 21, 2024, under Decision No. 1520/QĐ-UBND. Its exhibition area contains more than 2,000 artifacts, documents and images relating to the life and work of Nguyễn Du and the Nguyễn Tiên Điền family. Literary and family history thus form a distinct focus among the region’s cultural sites.
Chùa Hương Tích on the Hồng Lĩnh mountain range combines historical and cultural significance with picturesque natural surroundings. The pilgrimage route passes streams, lakes and extensive pine forests and is considered a nature experience. Chùa Cầm Sơn, meanwhile, is more than 600 years old and is located on Thiên Cầm Mountain.
Festival traditions and coastal experiences
The Hải Thượng Lãn Ông Festival takes place annually from the 13th to the 15th day of the first lunar month; the corresponding Gregorian dates vary. Incense ceremonies are held at the tomb in the hamlet of Hải Thượng in Sơn Trung. Sacrificial ceremonies take place at the ancestral shrine in the hamlet of Bảo Thượng in Quang Diệm, and a ceremony for peace and health is held at Chùa Tượng Sơn in Hamlet 1 of Sơn Giang. The festival also features boat races on the Ngàn Phố River, Bánh Chưng cooking, pushing sticks, arm wrestling and a cross-country run up Minh Tự Mountain. Individual activities may vary from year to year.
At Biển Thiên Cầm Beach, clear water meets a long stretch of white sand. In April 2026, boat trips to explore Bớc Island were mentioned as a visitor offering in Thiên Cầm. If you plan such a trip, check beforehand whether it is available for your preferred date.
Cồn Gò Fish Market is also one of the experiences in Thiên Cầm: In April 2026, lively early-morning seafood trading was described there. Operations may vary seasonally. A report from the same month also mentioned a restaurant serving fresh seafood such as squid, grouper, grilled shellfish, shrimp and crab. The dishes available may change.
Agriculture and wellbeing
In Đồng Lộc, visitors can pick their own oranges at orange farms, sample clean agricultural produce and learn about local production processes.
