Delavan combines recreational opportunities on Delavan Lake with live entertainment at the Dancing Horses Theatre. Community Park also offers practical options to consider when planning your trip. If you choose Delavan as your destination, you can start by deciding whether to focus your stay on activities on the water, fishing, the park or a show.
Delavan Lake: A Range of Activities on the Water
Delavan Lake covers 2,072 acres. Visitors can go boating, sailing, kayaking and canoeing, as well as swimming in the lake. This offers a range of recreational activities to choose from: boating or sailing, kayaking and canoeing, and swimming as another option. Which of these you prioritize depends on the kind of activity that interests you in Delavan.
When planning your trip, it helps to consider these options separately rather than treating one activity as representative of the entire lake. You can focus your stay on water sports or make swimming a priority of its own. Those primarily interested in fishing can find a separate list of fish species in the lake. This gives you a more specific idea of what Delavan Lake offers than a general desire to spend time by the water.
Community Park: Boat Launch and Swimming Area
Community Park has a boat launch and a designated swimming area. These are two distinct options: the boat launch is relevant to visitors interested in boating, while the swimming area is for those who want to swim. Together, these facilities give the park a distinct place among the water-related options mentioned in Delavan, without suggesting that both are for the same activity.
If you would like to include Community Park in your plans, consider which of the two facilities is most important for your stay. Park facilities may change, so check their current status before your visit.
Fishing on Delavan Lake
Fishing is another reason to explore Delavan Lake. The fish species listed are Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, Muskellunge, Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass, Walleye and Yellow Perch. This list makes the fishing opportunities more specific: instead of searching only for general fishing options, you can see which fish species are listed for Delavan Lake.
This may matter when choosing your destination if fishing is more important to you than boating or swimming. The fish species offer a different planning consideration from boating, sailing, kayaking and canoeing. You can weigh whether the lake interests you primarily as a fishing destination or for its other recreational activities.
Dancing Horses Theatre: A Show Featuring “Dancing Waters”
The Dancing Horses Theatre offers a show suitable for all ages. It ends with “Dancing Waters,” a sequence of hundreds of water fountains choreographed to music. This finale gives the performance a clearly defined highlight and sets it apart from activities on the lake. Here, the show takes center stage, while Delavan Lake offers a range of recreational activities to enjoy.
If you are looking for an alternative to activities on the water, the theatre is a distinct cultural attraction in Delavan. The fact that the show is suitable for all ages may also help you decide. The fountains choreographed to music at the end also offer a specific idea of what makes the performance distinctive.
Choose the Right Focus for Your Stay
A simple distinction can help with your planning: Would you like to explore the lake and its activities, look for specific fish species to catch, or attend a show? Community Park adds a boat launch and a swimming area to the options. These appeal to different interests and let you start by choosing the activity that matters most for your stay.
When searching for hotels in Delavan, you can use this focus as a starting point for planning your trip. That way, your decision reflects what you want to experience in Delavan: activities on Delavan Lake, fishing, the facilities at Community Park or the show at the Dancing Horses Theatre.
