Pleasant Prairie offers several distinct highlights: the lake and park area at Lake Andrea, the protected Chiwaukee Prairie, cultural history and a bike connection to the state border. When planning your trip, you can consider whether nature, outdoor activities or history will shape your stay.

Lake activities and exercise at Lake Andrea

Prairie Springs Park covers 930 acres and offers a beach, a designated swimming area, nature trails and a paved loop around Lake Andrea. The 2.3-mile loop is designed for walking and jogging. Lake Andrea is a spring-fed lake; the park and lake are part of Pleasant Prairie’s public park system and are open to the public.

Fishing is possible from both boats and the shore, with ice fishing available in winter. Watercraft can be rented by the hour. A free public boat launch is also available year-round on the north shore. If you plan to rent, check the latest information beforehand.

Chiwaukee Prairie: a protected coastal landscape

Chiwaukee Prairie encompasses more than 400 acres of protected land along the Lake Michigan shoreline in Pleasant Prairie and is officially recognized as a National Landmark. Its landscape includes grassland, wetlands, shoreline areas, tall oak trees and sand dunes. It is home to more than 400 native plant species, as well as birds, mammals, amphibians, reptiles and invertebrates.

The natural attractions differ: Lake Andrea centers on the lake and its paved loop, while Chiwaukee Prairie forms a protected coastal area with a variety of landscape types.

Culture and traces of history

The Pleasant Prairie History Museum is located in the historic Dublin School. Its three galleries contain archaeological, historical and cultural materials, along with the stories behind them. Admission is free; check the latest visitor information before your visit.

Parts of the historic Jambeau Trail can be seen near Green Bay Road in Momper's Woods in Pleasant Prairie. Together, the museum and the historic trail traces offer different cultural points of interest: gallery collections in one place, visible sections of a historic route in another.

Parks and bike connections

Ingram Park features a walking trail, a fishing pond, a playground and a sledding hill. It also has a fenced dog park with separate areas for large and small dogs. Pleasant Prairie’s disc golf course is located in Pleasant Prairie Park; its nine holes offer varying levels of difficulty.

The Kenosha County Bike Trail runs through Pleasant Prairie to the Wisconsin–Illinois border, where it connects with the Robert McClory Bike Path in Illinois. If cycling is part of your plans, you can factor in this continuation across the state border when choosing a route. Check current trail conditions before your bike ride.
