Nephi offers a range of different reasons to visit: the Ute Stampede combines rodeo with other festival events, while the museum, historic park, and city swimming pool appeal to other interests. Seasonal conditions vary considerably: the rodeo traditionally takes place in the second week of July, while the Mount Nebo Scenic Loop is closed in winter because of heavy snowfall, from late October until June or July.

Ute Stampede: Rodeo and Festival Program

The Ute Stampede Rodeo is PRCA-sanctioned and traditionally takes place in Nephi during the second week of July. Dates may vary from year to year, so check the dates for your intended travel year before planning your stay around the event. The Ute Stampede began in 1934 and grew into one of Utah’s largest festivals. In addition to the rodeo, the festival includes a fair, two parades, and a classic car show; individual events may vary from year to year. The year and the program answer different questions: 1934 provides context for the festival’s origins, while the other events show what takes place alongside the rodeo.

Museum and Historic Park

The Daughters of Utah Pioneers Museum is located in Nephi’s old county courthouse and is operated by the International Society Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Old Mill Park is a historic park in the city center. The grounds feature a historic water wheel, small tables, a garden, and plenty of shade. There is also a short walking path, benches, a picnic table, an old mill-water feature, and attractive landscaping. The park borders Salt Creek, and parking is limited.

A historic 1859 mill wheel is associated with Old Mill Park. It is considered the last surviving remnant of a busy gristmill and is recognized as a National Historic Landmark. The museum and park have different points of interest: the museum is distinguished by its location in the former county courthouse, while the park combines historic features with a walking path and seating.

Swimming Pool and Seasonal Planning

The Nephi City Swimming Pool has a swimming pool, diving board, new tube slide, climbing wall, and a splash pool for toddlers. During the 2026 season, the city swimming pool offered early-morning lap swimming; it was open to the public and did not require reservations. Details may change in future seasons, so check the relevant seasonal information before planning a visit.

The Mount Nebo Scenic Loop is closed in winter because of heavy snowfall, from late October until June or July. For planning purposes, these are two different time frames: the Ute Stampede’s traditional July week and the Loop’s lengthy seasonal closure.
