Clearfield offers several distinct recreational options: water, a skate park, trails and fitness. This makes it easier to prioritize your recreational interests when choosing a destination, before planning specific activities.

Water and Skateboarding

Fishing, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding are available at North Steed Park and Pond. The three activities suit different preferences: fishing focuses on spending time by the water, while kayaking or paddleboarding takes you out on the water. Mabey Pond is one of Clearfield’s two fishing ponds. If you plan to fish there, confirm the applicable fishing regulations with the city before your trip.

Fisher Park Skate Park offers a different kind of recreation. It has two separate bowls; features include a Flow Bowl, Love Seat, Combi Bowl and Death Box. There is also a street section with rails and ledges, as well as nighttime lighting. The bowls and street section are different parts of the facility; the rails and ledges are in the street section. Bowls are basin-shaped riding surfaces, which distinguishes them from the street section.

Trails and Training

The Canal Trail runs along the Weber Basin Canal from 650 N to University Park Boulevard at the border with Layton. The endpoints provide a specific guide to the route. Mountain bike trails have been built along the Rail Trail near Chelmes Park. The distinction is useful when choosing: the Canal Trail is defined by its canal route and endpoints, while the other option is about mountain bike trails near Chelmes Park.

Water and fitness facilities come together at the Clearfield City Aquatic & Fitness Center. The indoor leisure pool features a lazy river; there is also a swimming pool and a hot tub. An outdoor splash pad adds to the water activities available outside. The fitness area offers a weight room, cardio equipment, an indoor track and group classes such as aqua fitness, yoga and high-intensity interval training. This means two distinct areas of focus are available at the same center: water activities, and equipment, track and class-based training. Among the water activities, the indoor leisure pool differs from the splash pad, which is explicitly outdoors.

Sports, Events and Getting There

Clearfield City Recreation runs indoor and outdoor pickleball leagues for youth and adults year-round, depending on weather conditions. If you want to plan your stay around a league, check the dates and format in advance; weather conditions are relevant to this offering. The Bicentennial Amphitheater is one of the facilities available to rent in Clearfield. As reservation details may change, confirm them before making specific plans.

UTA Route 626 connects West Roy with Clearfield Station. If you plan to use this connection for your trip, check the schedule before departure.
