In Brigham City, a variety of discoveries await: birdlife takes center stage at the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge, while museums and the Tabernacle offer insights into art and local history. Peach Days brings together a program of events featuring parades, vendor booths, a carnival, and entertainment. During your stay, you can choose between observing nature, visiting exhibitions, and enjoying a festival program—or decide which to focus on based on how much time you have available.

Birdwatching and planning your time at the Refuge

The Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge is located in Brigham City, Utah. More than 250 bird species use the Refuge; 67 species breed there. When planning a visit, you can weigh the option of observing birds from your vehicle against other activities at the Refuge.

The 12-mile auto tour route lets you observe birds from your vehicle. Other activities at the Refuge include photography, wildlife and birdwatching, hiking, biking, running, hunting, fishing, and painting. Your choice of activity shapes the visit: driving offers a different focus from getting around on foot or by bike. Some activities may be subject to Refuge rules or seasonal conditions; conditions on the route may also change temporarily. Check before you set out.

Museums: Puppets, Art, and Local History

At the World of Puppetry Museum, you can encounter hand puppets, marionettes, and a shadow theater in interactive exhibitions. The collection includes more than 150 puppets from 15 countries. The museum therefore offers two different ways to explore the subject: the international collection and exhibitions featuring different forms of puppetry. Specific exhibition content may be updated.

The Brigham City Museum of Art & History dedicates its permanent exhibition to the history of Brigham City. It also presents five to six temporary exhibitions each year on history and visual art; the program may change. A visit here therefore offers a different focus from the puppet collection: local history and changing topics in history and art take center stage. The Brigham City Tabernacle is also one of the city’s historic landmarks. It was built entirely using community resources.

Planning for an event and getting there

Peach Days features two parades, more than 200 vendor booths, a carnival, and entertainment. This makes it different from a museum or Refuge day: the focus is on an event program with several components. Individual offerings may change. If Peach Days fits your travel plans, check the event dates and program for your intended visit.

Brigham City is accessible via Interstate 15. The Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge Visitor Center is a quarter mile from I-15, Exit 363. Plan your days based on whether you want to make time for birdwatching, a museum visit, or Peach Days. This lets you choose your focus intentionally without turning the different offerings into a set itinerary.
