A walking trail, several sports facilities and a children’s book that can be read step by step outdoors: different activities come together at Morgan Park. The history of the Armaugh property, which later developed into the community of Morgan, adds another dimension. Morgan can thus be viewed from several perspectives: exercise and play in the park, a StoryWalk® or the historical connection to the development of the community.
Morgan Park: Walking Trail, Sports and Play
Morgan Park has a walking trail, tennis and pickleball courts, batting cages, and a playground with inclusive swings. This brings together walking, two racket sports, batting practice and play as distinct options. As you plan, you can first consider what kind of activity you want to focus on: a walk, court sports or time at the playground. The batting cages are a separate option alongside tennis and pickleball. One specific playground feature is its inclusive swings.
StoryWalk®: A Children’s Book Outdoors
StoryWalk® combines a children’s book with a walk outdoors. Laminated book pages are attached to signs along an outdoor trail; as you walk, the sequence of signs leads to the next page. You read the story in stages, continuing along the trail from one page to the next. The South Fayette Township Library maintains a StoryWalk® location at Morgan Park. Compared with a walk without a book, the sequence of pages gives the route an added structure: reading and walking alternate, rather than reading the children’s book all in one place. The format thus combines an ongoing story with outdoor activity.
Armaugh and Morgan’s History
Samuel Morgan claimed the Armaugh property, which later developed into the community of Morgan. He built a gristmill on Armaugh, which was sold to Moses Coulter in 1811. The local history thus links the development of a property to a specific historic business. The mill’s construction and sale provide a specific connection to local history; Armaugh’s development into a community also tells the story of Morgan’s beginnings. This offers a different way to understand Morgan than the park and StoryWalk®: the focus here is on Samuel Morgan, Armaugh and local history.
Pickleball Programs in Fall 2026
In fall 2026, Morgan Park will host two morning pickleball programs for adults. The Adult Pickleball Beginner Clinic takes place on Wednesdays from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.; the adult pickleball league, Lion’s League, is scheduled for Wednesdays from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Both programs are for participants ages 18 to 100 and each costs $125. The clinic lasts one hour, while the league lasts an hour and a half; their names and durations make it easy to distinguish between the formats. Since these programs are scheduled for fall 2026, check current dates and availability before planning your visit.
