Two RUMOCA locations, public art, and places with historical significance give visitors different points of interest during a stay in Glassboro. RUMOCA has a gallery at 301 High Street West in downtown Glassboro, as well as a location in Westby Hall, First Floor, Room 110, at 237 Mullica Hill Road. If RUMOCA is part of your plans, note the exact addresses: the gallery and the other location are at different addresses.
Public Art
At Glassboro Town Square and along Rowan Boulevard, visitors can experience immersive, lifelike sculptures by Seward Johnson. Individual installations may change. If you are looking for a particular work, check in advance whether it is currently on view.
The murals also each have their own location and background. The Glassboro Legacy Mural is on the exterior wall of the restroom pavilion in the Southside area of Glassboro Town Square. Another mosaic mural project was created on the facade of the Glassboro Center at 110 East High Street: in June 2017, Creative Glassboro, the Mosaic Family Success Center, and Rowan University College of Communication and Creative Arts created the work together; the project was led by Isaiah Zagar.
The “Glassboro: Vibrant Future” mural is a separate work. It was added in 2018 and created on site by William Butler. Visitors interested in public art can find a range of forms and stories behind their creation: lifelike sculptures, a collaboratively created mosaic project, and another mural with its own name and artist.
Historic Places and Their Stories
Hollybush houses historical artifacts from the summit and serves as a venue for special university events. Johnson and Kosygin met there for talks that lasted nearly ten hours. This makes Hollybush a historical point of interest with a specific connection to the meeting; a visit can also be distinguished from the special events for which the site is used.
The Heritage Glass Museum is located on the site of the former Whitney Brothers Glassworks, dating to around 1838. Admission is free. If this is important to your plans, check the admission information before you travel. Together, Hollybush and the museum offer two distinct historical points of interest: artifacts from the summit at Hollybush, and the site of a former glassworks at the museum.
Time Outdoors: Two Distinct Focuses
The Glassboro State Wildlife Management Area is in the eastern part of the Borough of Glassboro and offers wildlife-related recreational opportunities. South Delsea Drive Park has a different, specific focus: it has walking paths and a fitness station. When choosing between the two, consider whether wildlife-related recreation or the park amenities listed here better suit your plans.
You can explore Glassboro according to the theme you’re interested in: public art, the history of Hollybush and the former glassworks, or time outdoors. For a focused art visit, it helps to check the specific work and its location; for outdoor recreation, the different focuses of the Wildlife Management Area and South Delsea Drive Park offer a clear guide.
