Ormond Beach has several distinct facets, from its speed heritage and art gardens to its nature experiences. Birthplace of Speed Park features a small replica of the Ormond Garage; the Ormond Memorial Art Museum & Gardens combines exhibitions with landscaped gardens. There are also opportunities to explore Central Park and enjoy activities at Tomoka State Park.

History, Art and Speed Heritage

The Casements is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and was once the winter home of John D. Rockefeller. Free self-guided tours are available during regular operating hours. Since operating information may change, check the current opening hours before your visit.

The Ormond Memorial Art Museum & Gardens presents several exhibitions each year featuring works by national and international artists. Its gardens include native and exotic plants, water features, artisan-designed pathways, and a pavilion, as well as a scenic waterfall feature. Those looking to combine art with a landscaped outdoor setting will find two distinct sides of the same museum in its exhibitions and gardens.

Ormond Beach has long celebrated its speed heritage with an annual “Antique Car Show” over Thanksgiving weekend. Since specific event dates may change, check the date for your travel year before planning around it.

Seasonal Activities in Central Park

The Environmental Discovery Center is designed for independent exploration and offers insights into Ormond Beach’s diverse ecosystems, particularly in Central Park. The center is set up for self-guided exploration, while guided tours require a seasonal date and meeting point.

For guided bird walks in Central Park, participants meet at the Environmental Discovery Center in fall and spring. Free guided kayak tours through Central Park, held every two weeks, depart from the Environmental Discovery Center during the winter and spring months. Spring is the season for both activities; bird walks are also held in fall, while kayak tours also run in winter. Since seasonal programs and reservation details may change, check dates and reservation information in advance.

Water, Woods and Cycling

The waters at Tomoka State Park are popular for canoeing, boating and fishing. Visitors can walk through a hardwood hammock on a half-mile nature trail. The park protects a variety of wildlife habitats and endangered species such as the West Indian manatee. Water activities and a walk through the woods offer two distinct ways to enjoy the park.

The Ormond Scenic Loop and Trail consists of several roads that you can join at several points; people also cycle there. When cycling, be cautious of road conditions and traffic, as both require care.
