A wide beach, the gentle waters of the Gulf of Mexico, and a variety of coastal and park destinations shape Treasure Island. There are different ways to spend your time here: enjoying activities along the shore, watching sunsets, making use of beach amenities, or attending seasonal events. You can tailor your time between the beach, a waterside trail, and a park visit to suit your interests, without having to follow a set itinerary.

Coast and Waterside Trails

The wide beach and gentle waters of the Gulf provide the coastal setting. The Treasure Island Beach Trail adds a specific waterside route to a beach visit: it is one mile long, paved, and scenic, and can be used for walking or cycling.

Sunset Vista Park has an elevated viewing platform for watching sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico, as well as wide steps leading down to the beach. The park is a named spot for views across the water; the Beach Trail, by contrast, offers a waterside route for walking or cycling. Local vendors rent stand-up paddleboards, kayaks, and shaded beach cabanas on the beach. This gives you a choice of paddling activities or a rented shaded beach cabana when planning your day. The difference is clear: the trail is a paved waterside route, while the rentals offer options on the water or a shaded place on the beach.

Beach Sections and Dunes

Treasure Island’s widest beaches and many amenities are in its central section. Sunset Beach is at the southern tip. These are two different points of reference when choosing where to go: the first refers to beach width and amenities in the central section, while the second indicates the location of a named beach at the southern end.

The dunes are also distributed differently: substantial natural primary dunes can be found in parts of the island, while artificial dunes have been created throughout Treasure Island.

Parks and Events

Treasure Island Community Center Park is home to the Causeway Bridge Historical Monument and the Friday Morning Outdoor Market, which runs from December through April. If you plan to visit the market, keep this timeframe in mind. Rosselli Park includes the John Morroni Memorial Dog Park. Depending on your interests, you can choose between different park attractions: the designated dog area at Rosselli Park, or the monument and seasonal market at Community Center Park.

Sanding Ovations is an annual sand sculpture exhibition and competition on Treasure Island. The Treasure Island Holiday Lighted Boat Parade is also held annually and has a nautical theme; it takes place on Treasure Island’s waterways. The events differ in both theme and setting: one is a sand sculpture exhibition and competition, while the other is a parade on the water. Check the specific dates for your desired travel year.

Getting Around and Beach Access

Three different bridges connect Treasure Island to other communities. Beach parking lots have accessible parking spaces; near the Gulf Front Parking Lot, Mobi-Mats help people with reduced mobility access the water. If you rely on this assistance, check whether the facility you need is available before your visit.
