In addition to public beach access, Redington Beach offers other specific recreational amenities: a seawall with benches and a place to fish, as well as a community recreation area. When looking for a vacation rental, it helps to first consider whether the beach, a break by the seawall, fishing, or sports and play facilities will shape your stay. These different priorities lead to different planning questions—especially about access and parking, local rules, and the times when reservations may be available.

Beach access and local rules

As of September 5, 2026, public beach access at 155th Avenue and Gulf Boulevard was reported as open. Check whether it is still open before your visit. Parking in Beach Park is restricted to Redington Beach residents. Free beach parking permits for city residents are available at Town Hall; check locally whether you are eligible and whether permits are available in your specific case. Public access and parking eligibility answer different questions: a report that beach access is open does not lift the resident-only parking restriction at Beach Park. If you do not live in Redington Beach, check the parking options that apply to your visit before you arrive.

Animals also affect your choice of activities: they are prohibited on Redington Beach and in all city-owned parks or recreational areas. If you are traveling with an animal, account for both types of places in your day’s plans.

Recreation by the seawall and at the community recreation area

Benches along the seawall in Redington Beach invite you to relax, and fishing is also possible there. These are two different ways to use the same place: you can plan a break or choose fishing as a separate activity. The seawall therefore offers a different focus from the sports and play facilities at the community recreation area.

The community recreation area has basketball courts and a large playground. Those who want to play basketball will find a specific sports facility there; the playground offers a separate focus. Together with the benches and fishing opportunity by the seawall, these amenities provide a choice of different activities rather than just one kind of recreation.

Royal terns can sometimes be seen along the waterfront in Redington Beach. Sightings are seasonal and may vary. If birdwatching is important to you, plan for a sighting as a possibility, not a scheduled activity.

Redington Beach holds an annual beach cleanup. If you would like to combine this event with your stay, check the dates for your intended travel period. The cleanup takes place annually, while royal terns are seen only occasionally and seasonally; you can plan for the event by checking its dates, but a sighting remains uncertain.

Shelter in Town Park

A shelter in Town Park can be reserved by calling 727-391-3875. Reservations can be made during Town Hall business hours, Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. If a shelter is important to your plans, make the call during this time window. This lets you account for the reservation as a separate planning step.
