In Mueang Krabi District, coastal areas meet limestone landscapes, riverbanks and a waterfall with eleven cascades. The named places offer different natural attractions.

Beaches and a boat trip from Ao Nang

Ao Nang Beach is about two kilometres long and is located in Mueang Krabi District. Nopparat Thara Beach is also in the district and forms part of Hat Nopparat Thara–Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park. This highlights two distinct features: the approximate length of Ao Nang Beach and Nopparat Thara Beach’s location within the national park.

Longtail boats run from Ao Nang Beach to Railay Beach throughout the day. Availability may vary seasonally, so check before making plans. This makes a boat trip one practical consideration if you are considering Ao Nang as a coastal destination. When choosing what to do, you can weigh the beach and boat connection as separate aspects rather than equating them with the hiking and waterfall opportunities in the national park.

Waterfall and trails in Khao Phanom Bencha National Park

Khao Phanom Bencha National Park extends across Mueang Krabi District and includes the multi-tiered Huai To Waterfall. It has eleven cascades, and some of the pools are suitable for swimming. The national park also has two hiking trails leading to the summit of Khao Phanom Bencha. This gives you different activities to choose from in one natural area: a waterfall with pools for swimming or a hike on one of the trails to the summit.

Water conditions and visitor access at Huai To Waterfall can vary seasonally. Check trail conditions and access before setting off; water conditions and access to the waterfall should also be factored into your plans. This lets you consider a hike and a possible stop at the pools as two distinct options without assuming conditions will remain unchanged.

Limestone hills, river and wetland forest

Khao Khanap Nam consists of two limestone hills flanking the Krabi River. From Chao Fa Pier, it takes 15 minutes to reach the site by local fishing boat. Unlike the trails in the national park, getting there involves a boat trip; these different ways of accessing the sites may factor into your choice of activities.

Tha Pom Khlong Song Nam is in Khao Khram. The waterway originates in the Chong Phra Kaeo pool, meets a mangrove forest and flows as salt water towards the sea. Here, the focus is on the water’s course from the pool, through the mangrove forest and out to sea. This distinguishes it from Khao Khanap Nam, whose defining features are the two limestone hills beside the river.

Krabi as a wider travel destination

Railay Beach offers another coastal view in the wider destination of Krabi. At the west beach, you can swim and watch the sunset; Railay East is associated with climbing high limestone cliffs. These examples add activities on Railay’s beaches and cliffs to the overview of Krabi as a travel destination. As you plan your trip, you can consider them as separate interests alongside the coastal, river and forest landscapes described above.
