With its ponds, church art and seasonal experiences, Weisslingen offers several different highlights for a stay. The municipality is in the Zurich Oberland and belongs to the Pfäffikon district in the canton of Zurich. Those who enjoy the outdoors can follow the “Winter Magic” route, which includes a section along a stream and a path to various ponds. Culture enthusiasts can explore the church's history and the themes presented at the local museum; there are also alpaca experiences in Theilingen and winter sports at the Dicki ski lift.

Ponds and the “Winter Magic” Route

The “Winter Magic” route starts at the Dorf bus stop in Weisslingen and initially follows the hiking trail to the edge of the forest. The path then descends alongside an idyllic stream to Theiligerweiher, a beautiful place to finish. This smaller artificial pond lies between Weisslingen and Theilingen. In summer, the route offers the option of a detour to Weisslingen's Brauiweiher for a refreshing swim. Brauiweiher is about 1 kilometre south of the village and was artificially created in the 19th century to supply ice to a brewery that operated at the time. This combines a summer swimming recommendation with the pond's former role in supplying ice to the brewery.

Church and Local Museum

Weisslingen Church is first mentioned in documents from the late 12th and early 13th centuries. It was extensively renovated or rebuilt between 1500 and 1510. Master Peter Kälin from Ulm, who lived in Zug, created the Gothic wooden ceiling.

The Weisslingen Local Museum presents the area's history through its associations, fire brigade, Romans and Celts, crafts, health, water pipes, castle, religious rites, household, agriculture, office, school, toys and military. Special exhibitions are held every year. Their themes range from early history and crafts to everyday life and local institutions, adding further chapters of local history to the story of the church.

Experiences in Theilingen

At the Theilingen Alpaca Farm, visitors can join Bettina Bachofner and walk with alpacas through the forest. The roughly two-hour visit includes a cup of coffee or tea and a light snack. The farm also offers 90-minute yoga sessions among the alpacas in a natural setting. The durations make it easy to compare the two experiences: the visit lasts about half an hour longer than the yoga session. When choosing, you can therefore consider not only the activity but also how much time it takes.

Winter at the Dicki Ski Lift

The slope at the Dicki Weisslingen ski lift is 200 metres long and suitable for families with children as well as more advanced skiers. When there is enough snow, the ski lift holds night skiing once or twice each winter, with music provided by DJ Uese. The event depends on snow conditions, so anyone planning to come specifically for night skiing should check the dates.
