Villa «Le Lac» has an 11-metre-long window overlooking Lake Geneva and the Alps. Corseaux is in the canton of Vaud and the Riviera-Pays-d'Enhaut district of Switzerland. Plan your stay in Corseaux around its architecture, vineyards and swimming facilities on Lake Geneva.

Architecture and Art in Corseaux

Le Corbusier’s Villa «Le Lac» is dated 1923; he designed it for his parents between 1923 and 1924. It is a historic monument and is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. It is part of the World Heritage property «The Architectural Work of Le Corbusier». The house brings together three of the later five points of a new architecture: an open floor plan, a roof garden and a horizontal window. The 11-metre-long window looks out over the lake and the Alps.

The Musée L’Atelier De Grandi offers another perspective on the area’s history. It is housed in a studio building designed by architect Alberto Sartoris in 1939. The museum displays works by Swiss artists alongside works by Italo De Grandi and his brother Vincent.

Lavaux and the Sentier des Cépages

Corseaux is located in the UNESCO World Heritage site of Lavaux, a cultural landscape of terraced vineyards shaped by people since the 11th century. The wider landscape stretches from Lutry to Vevey and includes 10,000 terraces.

The Sentier des Cépages takes visitors through Corseaux’s wine-growing area and vineyards. Check trail conditions locally when planning your walk. At the foot of the Sentier des Cépages is La Galerie de l’Atelier. A 2020 tourism description lists a café, an exhibition space and a boutique there; check whether the gallery is open before visiting.

Swimming spots on Lake Geneva

Corseaux Plage combines a beach with an indoor and an outdoor swimming pool; admission is charged. Facilities include showers, toilets, changing rooms, snack stands, beach volleyball and diving boards. The facilities may operate seasonally, and access conditions may also change with the season.

La Grotte (La Crottaz) beach has large flat stones among the vegetation, as well as rocks, gravel, pebbles and shaded areas. Facilities include a changing room, a changing cabin, a diving board, toilets, showers and parking. Facilities and parking conditions may change. The two beaches differ in the features listed: Corseaux Plage has indoor and outdoor swimming pools, while La Grotte is distinguished by its shoreline and shaded areas.
