La Lécherette lies at an altitude of 1,379 metres in the Pays-d’Enhaut, within the municipality of Château-d’Œx in the canton of Vaud. When planning a visit, several sides of this mountain destination come into focus: a ski area linked to Les Mosses, a snowshoe route with a summit as its destination, and regional alpine products. Which of these shapes your trip depends mainly on the season and your interests.

Skiing and cross-country skiing in winter

The La Lécherette ski area has three ski lifts, mostly drag lifts, and seven runs graded blue, red and black. These grades give an overview of the different levels of difficulty. The Arsat ski lift connects the area directly to the Les Mosses ski area. Together, La Lécherette and Les Mosses form the Les Mosses–La Lécherette winter sports area; lift operations are seasonal.

If you are looking for a trail rather than ski runs, the Zone de découverte de La Lécherette has a 1.26-kilometre cross-country skiing route. It is intended for beginners and for those who want to try cross-country skiing. This gives you the choice between downhill skiing and a shorter introduction to cross-country skiing, depending on the winter activity you want. Snow and winter conditions can affect access to the trail.

You can also try biathlon in Les Mosses and La Lécherette. The activity is offered in both places; whether it suits a particular visit may depend on the season, snow conditions and the arrangements for the activities on offer.

Snowshoe routes and summer trails

The La Lécherette–Les Monts-Chevreuils snowshoe hike starts in the village and climbs to the summit of Monts-Chevreuils, at an altitude of 1,749 metres. Along the way, there are views of Lac de l’Hongrin and the Pays-d’Enhaut valley. The route thus combines a clearly named starting point and a summit destination with views of the lake and valley. Visibility depends on the weather, and snow conditions can affect access.

Depending on the season, you can also explore Les Monts Chevreuils in other ways: in summer, the area is accessible from La Lécherette by mountain bike; in winter, by touring skis. The hiking trails there pass through forests and flowering pastures. Before setting out, take the trail and terrain conditions into account. These options vary by season and should not be understood as one combined excursion.

Alpine pastures, cheese and local products

The Ferme de la Sciaz lies at an altitude of 1,450 metres in the municipality of Château-d’Œx. The milk from around 20 cows is used to make Le Piat, a farm speciality and a unique soft cheese with a washed rind in the Pays-d’Enhaut. The Ferme de la Sciaz has also developed its own agrotourism concept, which includes welcoming visitors to the alpine pasture; specific arrangements may vary.

Another place to discover cheese is Alpage Les Coques, a culinary stop above Lac de l’Hongrin in La Lécherette. From La Lécherette, follow the Barrage de l’Hongrin, Route No. 8, on foot to get there. During the summer season, producers at the alpine pasture make more than 200 wheels of L’Etivaz AOP. Seasonal cheese production and the described walking route give this stop a different character from a visit to the Ferme de la Sciaz. Check trail conditions before setting out.

For local products, there is also Le Self – La Lécherette, which offers farm products from the Ferme de la Sciaz as well as other local products. The selection may change. The Buvette des Eraisis, also known as the Buvette de La Lécherette, is located at the foot of the ski lift; opening arrangements may vary.
