Duillier brings together architectural heritage, wine trails, scenery and regional specialties. Several historic buildings line Rue du Château; routes run through vineyards or connect the village with Nyon. For planning, it is worth considering the different routes: from a T1 circular trail starting in Nyon to the vineyard route between Morges and Nyon.

Heritage along Rue du Château

Duillier’s architectural highlights are located along Rue du Château. They include the Château, the Grange des Dîmes, the school and the church. The Château dates from the 12th century and was rebuilt in the 16th century. It is a private manor house. In the 2026 cantonal inventory of the Canton of Vaud, the Grange des Dîmes is listed as a Category A cultural property.

The history of the Le Carlaton theatre is also part of the village’s cultural identity: it began in 1986 at the Château de Duillier. The name Duillier is also associated with the Roman name “Dulliacum”. In 1685, Nicolas Fatio de Duillier, with the support of his brother Jean-Christophe and using a graphometer, was the first to measure the height of Mont Blanc, at 4,728 metres. These different historical connections each give the place name, the buildings and the history of surveying their own distinctive place.

Routes between Nyon and the vineyards

The Autour de Nyon route starts in Nyon and returns there via Prangins, Duillier and Changins. It is graded T1 and considered easy. Another T1 stage of the Vaud Rando runs from Aubonne to Nyon via Duillier and is also technically easy. When choosing, the difference in route is helpful: a circular trail starting and ending in Nyon, as opposed to a stage between Aubonne and Nyon.

The Route du vignoble de La Côte starts in Morges and ends in Nyon. It passes through Duillier and then continues to Nyon, running through vineyards and offering views of Lake Geneva, the Alps and Mont Blanc. Seasonal conditions can affect access; check the latest route information before planning your trip.

The Chemin de Calèves offers a different perspective: it is open to pedestrians and cyclists and passes a manor house with an outbuilding in a green, tree-filled setting. The restored Calèves stream is lined mostly with oak trees. These oaks are home to the protected great capricorn beetle. The stream and the oak trees give the area a distinct natural character alongside its historic buildings.

Wine, cuisine and seasonal produce

There are different ways to discover wine in Duillier. During opening hours, wines from the estate can be sampled at the Caveau du Château de Duillier; private tasting events can also be arranged. At Jacques Mugnier, private wine tastings in the estate’s cellar are available by prior arrangement.

The Marché à la ferme in Duillier offers seasonal fruit and vegetables, as well as cider and wine. For a meal, charbonnades and whitefish fillets are among the specialties at the Auberge de Duillier. Alongside wine tastings and farm produce, local dishes are another culinary highlight.

Where to stay in Duillier

The Auberge de Duillier has 20 hotel rooms with views across the hillside, the Alps and Lake Geneva. This brings the same scenery that features as a highlight along the Route du vignoble de La Côte into a specific accommodation setting. Together with the heritage, trails and regional specialties, it adds to the varied picture for planning a stay in Duillier.
